ranks in the most undeserved moments in basketball history, tbh?

Is it high up there with Mengke Bateer's 2003 championship? Wade getting 482384329482 freethrows to win the 2006 title? The Lakeshow reaching the 2002 NBA Finals?

Game Five

Dwyane Wade shot 25 free throws --- as many free throws as all the Mavericks combined (a fact that did not sit well with Mavericks head coach Avery Johnson[5] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2006_NBA_Finals#cite_note-5)), leading the Heat to their third straight win over Dallas after being down 0–2 in the series.

Officiating Controversies: With 9.1 seconds left in overtime and the Heat trailing by 1 point, they inbounded the ball to Wade, who caught the ball in the air and then landed in the backcourt. Mavericks' team owner Mark Cuban felt Wade had therefore committed a backcourt violation after receiving the ball.

Dallas was then penalized with an incredibly controversial foul call (known later as "the phantom foul") that sent Wade to the line to shoot the game-tying and game-winning free throws with 1.9 seconds left on the overtime game clock. Wade hit the first free throw when Dallas Mavericks coach Avery Johnson signaled to Josh Howard to call a timeout after Wade's second attempt. Howard mimicked Johnson, in order to clarify the coach's orders, and Josh Howard was mistakenly awarded the Mavericks' last remaining time-out, which prevented them from advancing the ball should Wade convert on the second attempt. Wade eventually made the second free throw to give his team a one-point lead after which Devin Harris attempted and missed a hail-mary half-court shot as time expired. Wade set an NBA Finals record for most made free throws in a game with 21.

After the game, a frustrated Dirk Nowitzki kicked a ball into the stands and Mavericks owner Mark Cuban caused many "acts of misconduct" resulting in fines of $5,000 and $250,000, respectively, for the two men.

This year Clips choked too, but OKC winning was undeserving they had special powers ītill the other team broke and falled apart, refs gave them 15 points in game 5 so in the end they made a basket and won the game thats pathetic, same with Memphis.

That doesn't negate that they had a double digit lead with 5 mins remaining doesn't it?

Sure OKC-Clips was rigged, but that ain't the finals so I don't know what it's doing in this thread.

Cheating is cheating always not just in the finals, are you sure you are a Spurs fan? because OKC did the same to San Antonio in 2012.
This time they got to the Conference Finals, lets say hypothetically they crushed San Antonio with Heliflopters Dragon Punchs and Hadoukens and win the ring you could say it was legitimate? we are talking about a team that had a free pass for at least 2 rounds, fair game and they eat shit. Cheating is Cheating pure and simple.
Regarding 2006 Wheelchair had the same amount of freethrows than the whole Dallas team. And Cheat got 86 FTA combined in the last 2 games.

I don't have any issues with Ayres getting a ring. My expectations for him aren't that high and he's not an old star trying to coattail his way to a title. He did his job as a third/fourth big off the bench on this great TEAM. It's guys like Richmond and Tmac, if the Spurs had won last year, are the ones we should look at as undeserving.

Payton hit big late shots in Games 3 and 5 of that Finals on his way to that ring.

Oh, and he played 24 minutes per game for that Heat team in the playoffs. Hard to be just along for the ride when you're on the court for half of every game.

By 2006, he wasn't the player he had been, but it's not like he was just a garbage time player for that team.

No mention of Dennis Hopson? Dude was a complete bust as a #3 overall pick by the Nets in '87 and hit the jackpot by getting dumped on the Bulls in '90-91...the year of their first title. During the Bulls playoff run he played a whopping 18 total minute over the 17 games. He was traded to the Sacramento early the next season, which would be his last in the NBA. He was stuck looking for a job in Europe for the rest of his career.

For the record he played only 85 minutes in the 95-96 playoffs for Chicago, so if he was in pretty much the same situation as in LA.

"Errrors" kind of looks like a "mini Duncan", there is some resemblance physically. Maybe he will be more effective in year 2 in our system, I don't recall him having the rep of a "low Bball IQ" guy."

After putting up with Bonner earning $3-$4 million for 3-4 years (and the resultant chronic ST amnesty/unrealistic trade package scenario threads on him), Ayres at less than $2 million per year for 2 years seems like a very light sentence in comparison.

Yea ayres was so disappointing and overplayed. He couldn't catch the damn ball. However, with that said, he seems to be team player and does not have a bad attitude about being on the bench which should never be over looked with the spurs.
