I agree with MrsMaalox, I am used to it, but probably don't eat nearly the quantity you do, Baseline.

Got a whiff of that ghost pepper insanity challenge while eating at the new East Coast Wings place the other day. That was enough to give me the shits by itself.

Speaking of, I might be in San Antonio soon. Where should I go for a phenomenal burrito? Mexican food in California is pretty fucking dynamite, tbh.

Freebirds....no honestly I'm just kidding, don't go there

Haven't had good Mexican food in this town yet to be honest but I am sure there is a hole in the wall mom/pop place somewhere that is pretty good.

As inauthentic as it is, I fucking love freebirds. Super Monster = $14 and is enough for 4-5 meals. I cut it up in sections, and throw them all in the fridge. It's damn good and I love dat bad ass BBQ. :lol

Only one burrito in the world I like, and that's the Hollenbeck de Machacha at El Tepeyac Cafe in East LA. Well two I guess, because their regular pork Hollenbeck burrito is awesome too. But burritos are Cali food, they're not big in Texas like they are in Cali. My favorite plate of Mexican in town is the cochinita pibil at Cascabel's Mexican Patio on S St Mary's Street downtown. But it's interior Mex, not TexMex.

El Tepeyec is the business. I am not a burrito person all that much--It just fills you up and you're slowed down but he is on point with the recommendation. I did not know Texas is not a burrito region. I prefer tacos though...

The ranchero salsa and guacamole really make their burritos at El Tepeyac. Just enough heat to give a lot of flavor but not even close to enough to dominate it.

Speaking of tacos, damn I miss King Taco and their arbol salsa.

Right on. But doesn't the taste disappear after like 5? I know I have eaten 10 in a day but in on setting that's crazy. Just because I have been told to slow down on it though. Have you had the scorpion whoa man...that moment were you think man this is just like a habanero and how it comes rushing you is insane.

Nah, habanero is the hottest pepper I eat. If they have to engineer it at a university, it's probably too hot for human consumption tbh. Not LA Beast or anything.

I like to dice up fresh habanero into big chunks and put it in my tacos, especially when I'm feeling too lazy to roast and blend a salsa.

The one I used to go to has turned into a shooting gallery and I prefer not to go to the one in the LBC because it has been a hangout of unsavory types.

I made a pinapple habanero salsa the other day to put on my fish tacos...and my girl was scared. She can't handle jalapenos so I convinced her to try it and she managed to like it. In fact she jacked the leftover salsa on Monday. I feel you on that--I love the El Yucateco habanero sauce but also mincing them up in my sour cream, bacon, shrooms, and spinach omelets.

I always went to the original one on Evergreen, but I haven't been since Manuel died. Maybe the place went to shit without him?

Oh, the King Taco I used to go to was on the corner of Soto and Cesar Chavez, not too far from El Tepeyac. Sad if that went downhill, as they had outstanding carnitas.

You gotta be shitting me. Tito's Tacos are most fucking bland shit in the world. I remember going there one time and there was this huge line, so I figured must be good, right? So I talk to like 5 different old honkies in line who tell me they have the best tacos in LA, and everyone at UCLA loves them. That's what I get listening to old honkeys and young chinks. That shit was terrible.

Fuck Tito's Tacos. Fuck the whole westside when it comes to Mexican. The only decent place I ever found was a place called Tacomiendo in Culver City that was damn good for Westside, or decent overall.

I agree with you. I like the smaller hole in the walls. I have a taco truck dude that parks near Cherry and Anaheim (in the barrio, yes) on weekend nights and its legit or I go to South Gate for Tacos Michoacán. Tacomiendo is something I'll have to try next time im in CC.

It's not great, just the best I found on the Westside, which isn't saying shit when its competition is garbage like Titos, El Cholo, El Torito, etc.

For reals. I laugh when people pump up El Cholo to be honest. The only good memory of that place is banging a bartender from there a while back. Her taco was better than the shit they were serving as Mexican food.
