View Full Version : Championship video is crap

This is the worst championship video I think I have ever seen. It was all low key and nothing seemed epic about, unlike the real life season and playoffs that actually happened. They spend about 5min on the regular season and say nothing of the importance of the bench in obtaining the home court throughout. Its like yeah the regular season was good. They mention the Dallas season and show the Vince Carter shot but never seem to show how hard that series really was. They don't even mention Splitters work on Dirk. I mean WTF!!!! On to Portland. Here they didn't mention that Portland had no bench and that was why they lost. They say basically in one minute that they couldn't compete and that's it. Now you would think they had saved all this time to really show the OKC highlights and talk about the OKC series. But they didn't. They don't even show Durant or Westbrook hardly at all. They don't show Westbrook's last second brick shot that hits the backboard at the end of the game to lose it, or talk about Durant's struggles or highlight any specific Spurs player. They casually mention Ibaku and nothing of his impact or anything else. It was like 8mins and done. Ok so the video sucks all the way and your thinking holy crap the Heat series must be good right? Nope, once again hardly any highlights no Lebron with "They trying to smoke us out of here", nor the quote and huddle before game 5, "Follow me". They mention the quote but don't show him in the pre game huddle saying it, which loses all meaning. They mention nothing of Patty Mills!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Except to show two of his shots like they were after the fact. This whole video is from someone who didn't know anything about the Spurs and it showed. It was a half ass attempt to make money and the NBA should apologize for putting their name on it. This video doesn't evoke any emotions, nor really give you the epic road to redemption that actually happened. Armad you suck for your voice lines, you were bored and man did it show. If your not excited about doing a championship video then don't do it. The best thing a Spurs Fan can do is buy all the playoff series and watch them many years from now and see what actually took place as this video doesn't even come close to telling the actual story. O they hardly mention in the whole video any of the bench players, not Joseph's dunk that kindled a fire, no Bonner, no mention of Bayes great game, nothing on Beli(hell maybe mention 3 point contest). Nope nothing. This video is absolute trash.
FU for that crappy video.....hire someone with talent and passion next time

The last good title DVD was the Lakers one in 2000. Thankfully the Spurs got a classic DVD in 1999, but the rest have been lousy. Miami's DVD last year was pretty awful too. I remember wondering how the hell you could make possibly the greatest game in league history (Game 6 of the Finals) look like such a snooze-fest.

Good thing for us, there are a ton of good Spurs videos out there on youtube. From the beautiful game, to the spurs reborn from the ashes, etc... This day and age, I guess it's not too uncommon for these championship DVD's to be subpar with social media and there being a lot of exposure already. The element of surprise on these DVD's is gone, and that's one thing I was concerned about because they showed so much of the behind the scenes stuff on the internet and TV, they basically left no surprise. That being said, I'll still get it to add to the collection.

You would rather watch the Heats of last year over the Spurs title? That to me raises an alarm there lol, you are not a Spurs fan right? Obviously not.
When a Finals is such a blowout in that many consecutive games, the suspense just doesn't build. Even after the win, the Spurs didn't really act like they just won the championship. I've seen teams celebrate harder after winning the 1st round. I guess it's old hat.

Really? I saw Kawhi smiling finally and Tim looking like he finally got the demon of last year off his back and got his 5th! I know the games were not close but they looked excited as hell where I sat to avenge last year and Tim finally got #5! I saw Pop nearly cry on the bench after it putting his head down with his hands on his head, don't know what you saw but I saw a relieved team and one that was just on cloud 9 after it all.

I guess man, they seemed very excited to me and having the time of their lives, especially Tim....... I guess we saw a different celebration. Tim looked the most excited, he always wanted #5 and you could tell. Manu looked happy as hell too, Kawhi was even smiling alot for once, Danny Green as well and Patty and so on who won their first titles, they looked elated, period. Diaw looked thrilled too.

The only guy that might have looked relieved was Pop, probably because he felt responsible for the loss last year and felt like he owed Tim one. Pop is also an old man, he knows the world is not long for him and he was taking it in, and really savoring it imo. It was an incredible scene. Our players and coaches have so much more class than the Lakers and Heat championship teams, you can see it all in the celebration

They were happy with the win, they just didn't celebrate like any other team would have. There was no jumping around, no crowd tackle at midcourt, no one jumped up on the scorer's table and strutted. It was low key for the most part.

Prophet I am.
I think the reason the Spurs didn't seem so "elated" after winning was because ESPN didn't show most of the bench running out to the court to celebrate with the players left on the court at the buzzer. Usually when a team wins the championship, the camera pans out when the buzzer sounds to see the full court and the players all running out to the middle to hug each other. The moment of raw emotion did happen... but ESPN decided to show Pop go towards the Heat to shake hands. That one moment of pure joy was cut by ESPN even though it did happen.
So that is why it seemed like the celebration was more low key. If ESPN did show most of the younger Spurs running, jumping and hugging out on the court, the Spurs would have looked more elated. Most of the big wigs like the Big 3 and Leonard also walked towards the Heat to shake hands so I guess ESPN decided to show that instead of capturing the initial moments of raw emotion.

it was also akward becuase they all went to shake hands way before the buzzer sounded so the buzzer really didnt mean much. they celebration had begun before it

It was high tension throughout, even as we were clearly beating the crap out of them. No lead was safe. TP had to take his turn going nuts to completely take out any hope they might have had. What a crowd and what a win. Everybody was going crazy! My question is if the NBA.com video is the same as the ITunes. My previous DVD's range from a box set of all four complete games of every Finals run to a compilation of tidbits throughout the season with a few choice spots of the playoff run with a big finish each time. Still haven't received mine , but have all four wins on my DVR. Lost OT in OKC, one of my favorite moments in our history. '

I thought you meant overall you would rather just watch the Heat video over the Spurs video whether we avenged it or not, like you prefer theirs! I was thinking well you have to watch the Heat 99% of the video though except for the Finals where they show us losing game 6 and 7 on their floor. I don't see how a Spurs fan could enjoy it more than a title DVD of their own no matter how bad the DVD is (I doubt theirs was great either).

Beating OKC was the best moment of the season besides winning the title, obviously. I felt the whole season that they were the biggest obstacle for our team and each round I prayed they would get knocked out but it never happened. And for us to knock them out and avenge that rigged series in 2012 was amazing. I was elated when we finally pulled it out, it felt like we won the title that night.

I signed up for Summer League Pass two years ago... watched it. Then I go back to the site a couple of months later, and noticed they stored my credit card information without my consent, and the site reported that I had a recurring subscription to the Summer League Pass. I contacted them, and told them I did not want to re-new and wanted my CC info deleted (there was no 'delete' button to delete the CC info). They said they removed the subscription, but 'could do nothing' about the CC info.
I'm like, WTF??? I told them nowhere on their Service Agreement (I read it), says they'll store and keep my CC info, and thus I wanted it removed. They didn't answer.
I ended up collecting all communications and sending them along with a complain to the FTC. Hopefully more people complain about their shady shit and they fix that shit before they have to do it anyways after they get hacked.

Yeah man, we were going crazy at my house! Tim ^@!#ing Duncan in OT, Boris, and Manu were brilliant......will whoever is chopping those onions please stop!!
not trying to shit on parker cuz he's been trememdous help to us on our way to the title, but i feel sitting him down in the 2nd half of that game was the best thing pop did all playoffs. When I heard he wasn't gonna play in the 2nd half, I knew we would win. For some reason okc is just a bad matchup for him. Westbrook and Jackson punishes him to no end.

When Tim hit that shot to win the game or basically seal it I was elated! Then Durant had a open look at three to tie it though, when that did not fall and we got the board I knew it was OVER...... Westbrooks three towards the end was flat out laughable to say the least, that was one of the worst shots I have ever seen and it hit the top of the backboard! I was nearly in tears laughing at that. What a nerve racking game.

Great. This is my first purchase of a Championship DVD. I wish "beautiful game" and "reborn from the ashes" were on this DVD, but hey, we always have youtube.com haha. I pre-ordered mine from NBA.COM, I didn't know it was cheaper on Amazon. And did anyone else order it from NBA.COM too? I haven't received mine yet, and I checked my e-mail and it said "will be shipped no later than Tuesday August 5th". :(

I watched it last night...I thought the main program was good. Not poor, not great .. but just good. The special features are the worst I've ever seen and it's not close. I'm glad I own the video but what a waste.

Same here, I was laughing so loud I was crying after Westbrook's three. Right as they inbounded I kept thimkg Westbrook was going to do something stupid, and he didn't disappoint by firing that three off while being doubled. I jumped out my seat at that, when he really did do that Carlton Banks shot. :lmao

He still managed to get out-choked by Durant though.
:lol Durant slipping and turning over the ball
:lol missing a game-tying 3 pointer

How the fuck did they not show the sequence of Kawhi stripping Westbrook followed by Tim hitting that baseline shot during the recap of that series? What the hell... :rolleyes

Atleast Durants three was within 10 feet of the hoop! His looked like it might go in, Westbrooks hit the far top of the backboard and went out of bounds, that shot was beyond horrible :lol He was doubled as well, Durants atleast was a good look he took.

That is exactly why I am going to buy the game on Itunes (A few others as well) and not that DVD.
I haven't received my championship blu ray in the mail as of yet, but thanks for ruining my excitement for its delivery. Had I known this, I wouldn't have erased all the playoffs on my DVR. Damn.

fuck AhMAD....eastcoast loving motherfucker!!!
Damn that sucks. I wish the Spurs would produce their own video. They should emphasize the 10 or 12 best games of the regular season too. Ticks me off, I let a lot of recorded games scroll off the DVR in order to make enough room for the crap shows my wife records in anticipation of this DVD. ugh. Ahmad Rashad, yeah he is lousy. Remember that awful show 'REWIND.'

Westbrook's shot was definitely an LOL moment, but I still think Durant choked worse than he did. Durant slips and loses the ball in a possession where OKC was only down 1 with 27 seconds. The Spurs would have ended that game sooner if Manu didn't miss one of his free throws.
And then he misses a makeable shot in OT that could have tied the game.

Go watch any of the videos from the 80s and early 90s. They are SO much better than the one size fits all crap they produce now. Even though they are dated you can tell they were put together with input from the winning teams themselves. They covered much more of the regular season and really built up the drama of the winning team going through adversity. Here's one of my favorites.

I didnt buy it because I watched a little bit of the Mavericks and Heats championships DVDs and they were absolutely horrible. Like compare it to what the NFL puts out and it makes the NBA's look like its three decades old.

That's amazing. I thought for sure the Spurs got crap treatment because the NBA doesn't anticipate selling a whole lot of Spurs Championship DVDs, but I thought for sure Miami would get the gold treatment. That being the case, I'm not buying the Spurs 2015 NBA championship DVD.

On a side note, you should check the ESPN 30 for 30 on that Pistons team. Much better than that video even.

That was the best 30 for 30 I've seen. Not sure if they'll ever do one like that for the Spurs. We just don't have the controversy like the BaD Boys.

I like Bill but Joe D is easily one of my top players ever! Class and he could D up and shoot the midrange, a lost art today. Isiah was no slouch as well ;). I liked that Bad Boys team.
