Was Mary Shelley's Frankenstein the first sci fi novel? That's debatable. What's not debatable is who wrote the first sword & sorcery stories, that was Texan Robert E. Howard. His King Kull, Brak Mak Mon, Conan stories the roots to the tree.
While ER Burroughs is famous for his Tarzan stories his John Carter on Mars epic are far superior in my opinion.
Was Olaf Stapeldon's "Odd John" the origins of DC's Superman?
A book I highly recommend....H.P.Lovecrafts Book of Horror...a fantastic read.
One of my prized possesions is a book...The Rivals of H.G.Wells. Here we find a gang of British sci fi authors totally lost in obscurity. Who all wrote back in Wells day, why they didn't make it...???
So who out the is into this stuff? I own something by all the above (and a few thousand others). Who just has to be listed that I don't have? Keep in mind.....classic!
Now that above is for the intelligent mature posters out there, below is for the trolls and riff raff and bottom feeders, ya know the CN's, Blakes, DJWhatever, ChumpWhatever etc etc.
So what's your favorite fast food joint? And.....ain't sex great?
