Yes, it still happens.

Give what amounts to redneck fuckwads guns and impunity of law... and they will kill other Christians they don't regard as being "true" Christians.

Protestants in Slaviansk had felt particularly under threat from the rebels. Despite about half of the town having fled the violence, several thousand Protestants, belonging to 15 or so non-Orthodox denominations, including the Church of the Transfiguration, still remained. And a number of them had been arrested by the separatists, accused of being “Satanists” or of helping the Ukrainian Army.

Cue the No True Scotsman excuses in 3,2,1....

This is more of a political issue than a religious one. Odd that you would characterize it so

Yeah got the same feel from the article. Although it clearly says the motive is unknown. RG jumping the gun.

More of a brain-dead boutons OP than a RG one. Weird. Guess we'll get a Tom Tomorrow strip too.

Wow, that was random. Oh, the OP is RandomGuy. My bad.

Islamists would love nothing more than to lop off the heads of Christians, Jews, and atheists.

That is how it is characterized by the dipsticks with the guns, given that they are pushing Eastern Orthodoxy on the Protestants. Blessing churches at gunpoint with your preferred preists in tow seems less political than religious.

To be fair/honest, it is probably a mix of both, given the mentality of the jackwagons involved.

Yes, they would. Worse than Christian fundies in that regard. But then their brand of ignorant redneck-ism is fueled by the same sense of anti-intellectual, anti-science propaganda.

The muslim world is, generally speaking, far less educated, and therefore far more vulnerable to extremism. The lack of critical thinking skills can be lethal.

Motive is unknown but strongly implied by the circumstances.

I had fun with the article, but it was more likely simply the work of people seeking to terrorize a population, with some highly misguided ideology and/or information.

The persecution of Protestants is, however, quite real, individual cases of opportunism aside, it seems.

Actually, a lot of Islamists are well-eduvated. Unfortunately, their religious ideology trumps their intellect.

There's a good debate you can find on YouTube called "Is Islam a religion of peace?"

Dip sticks with guns have always used religion as a tool/weapon.... This story is no different.

Fun? Aim higher. You posted a stupid OP and got spanked for it. Handle it.

"That pro-Russia separatists kidnapped and murdered four members of a Pentecostal church in Slaviansk seems sure. But very little else about the incident is."

slam dunk RG

It is quite different, as the groups involved are both Christians, which tends to be played down by many.

No. Its still "dipsticks with guns" using any tool available to terrorize/propagadize their targeted population.

Ah. I was wondering when someone would try the no true scotsman fallacy.

So they aren't real Christians then?

A simple rendition of the fallacy:[3]

Person A: "No Scotsman puts sugar on his porridge."
Person B: "I am Scottish, and I put sugar on my porridge."
Person A: "Well, no true Scotsman puts sugar on his porridge."

Person A: "No Christian would kill another for being a different sect of Christian."
Person B: "These guys were Christians and appear to have selected their victims based on their religion, i.e. another sect of Christianity"
Person A: "Well, no true true Christian would do that, therefore they are just thugs with guns."

Nice try. I made no such statement. But since youre large on fallacies, which one are you using by implying I did?
Shit dude. You fucked up. Youre not boutons....own it and get down the road.

Since you seem unable to grasp the notion:
IMO, It's entirely possible (if not probable) that the dipsticks with guns are also Christian.
This is a subset of Christians, and, dipsticks with guns but not inclusively representative of either set.

A bit strawmanesque on your part, imo. Just sayin.
