Kobe Bryant, who appears on a regional cover of Sports Illustrated this week, knows the end of his basketball career is near. After 18 years in the NBA and 45,567 regular-season minutes played (only 177 of those came last season after he missed 76 games because of a knee injury), he knows he's up against an undefeated opponent: Father Time.

But one thing’s for certain: Bryant isn’t trying to be a part of a Derek Jeter-like farewell tour whenever he decides to hang up his sneakers.

“If you booed me for 18, 19 years, boo me for the 20th. That’s the game, man,” Bryant said.

What if some people booed him just on 2007? Should they still boo him on his last season?

Kobe looks young for a 36-year old man, tbh.

"I'm 70 in basketball years."

Already planting the seeds by trying to make it sound like anything he does this year (which will be continue to chuck) will be an accomplishment.

Imagine other players who did not get all the pampered calls, rigged trades, *away* games at Sthaples Center, played defense etc who actually had to work for that many years.

Based on minutes played, Kobe is third for all active players, behind Allen and Garnett. Given how much Allen and Garnett's role has dropped off over the last few years, it's actually quite remarkable that Kobe still has the potential to compete at a high level.

In terms of all time, KAJ is way way way ahead at 57,446 minutes played compared to 45,567 minutes by Bryant.

Given the pussified ref and rigged trades treatment Kombe has enjoyed his entire career, it's been very easy miles compared to those other NBA high mileage who work for a living.

It is still a testament that he is jogging up and down the court.

God is older but he's still the best player in the league. God is like fine wine he just gets better with age and this year you'll see it when he gets the MVP.

It's going to be hilarious when the 70 year old tries to win games by himself again this season and thereby shooting his own team in the foot while simultaneously removing the chances younger players have of actually developing.
