Blacks and Books..?

Sure, we've all read Langston Hughes poetry and "Invisible Man" by Ralph Ellison, we've all read Richard Wright, James Baldwin, James Weldon Johnson, and all the other black authors.

I have a cool book, it's actual letters written by slaves, yep...some could read and write. It's...To Be A Slave...by Julius Lester (his "Long Journey Home" another great read). I actually have a lot of great reads by other black authors than those I mentioned.

So while it's real obvious black authors, poets, have played a role in the literary world why do so few blacks read and yes there are stats that prove that out and I've seen it in my life experiences.

Just Rome, and Socrates, and Plato, and Aristotle, Greece, and Byzantine Empire. No need to be angry brother.

The African American culture is very unmotivated to learn. That's why i surround myself with colleagues from the U that I appreciate. They take the time in the effort to "KNOW" shit.

Because of injuries. He failed physicals during the scoutings prior to the draft. He actually was signed by the Titans in 2005... but quit on that year on his own terms citing knee weakness. Basically he took too many hits in college and should have went pro after winning the Heisman and would have been draft for sure
