Though I have been a fan since 85, no game from 85-97 comes close to these 16: (sorry I have to index from 0 like C++ tbh, forgot about TD's first playoff game)

0. 1998 WCSF Game 1 - In his playoff debut Tim Duncan completely takes over the second half of the game, destroying Antonio McDyess and Hot Rod Williams and setting the stage for a career of dominance over the Suns. Duncan cannot be stopped!

1. 1999 WCF Game 2 - Sean Elliott leads the Spurs from 18 down and hits a crazy gamewinner over Rasheed Wallace while tiptoeing to avoid the sideline.

2. 1999 Finals Game 5 - Spurs win their first behind a 31 point performance from Duncan, with Avery Johnson, the point guard everyone said could never lead the Spurs to a title, hitting the clincher.

3. 2002 WCQF Game 3 - With the series tied 1-1 and the Spurs pissed at Desmond Mason's showboat dunk to end Game 2, nineteen year-old Tony Parker comes in and destroys Gary Payton on his home floor. 23 points on 10-15 shooting with 5 boards and 4 assists on the road against a first ballot Hall of Famer from a guy who should have been a freshman at UCLA. To me, this is really the game I thought the Spurs were back and ready to be title contenders again, especially with the rumors of Ginobili finally coming over.

4. 2003 WCSF Game 6 - After narrowly escaping Game 5 when Robert Horry's three bounced out, no one was giving the Spurs much of a shot to close LA out on the road in Game 6. Duncan comes in and puts up 37 and 16 in front of Jack and Parker has a monster 27 point game, including a back-breaking layup at the end of the third that really seemed to break the Lakers spirit. Russ destroys the asterisk on national TV.

5. 2003 WCF Game 6 - Down 13 in the fourth, with Parker sick and Duncan having a bad game, Stephen Jackson goes nuts and starts a 23-0 run that Steve Kerr comes in and caps off. Probably the most impressive run in franchise history to clinch their second trip to the Finals.

6. 2003 Finals Game 6 - Tim Duncan 21/20/10/8 while holding Kenyon Martin to an embarrassing 3/23 shooting night. David Robinson 13/17 to win a title in his last game. Spurs use a 19-0 run to end New Jersey's season when Ginobili and Jackson go nuts, with some great play from Speedy Claxton too.

7. 2005 WCSF Game 5 - With the Spurs blowing a 2-0 lead and coming back to San Antonio 2-2, Manu Ginobili goes crazy, dropping 39 points on Seattle on 15 FGA.

8. 2005 WCF Game 2 - Suns are really hanging in there in this must win for them. I love the sequence: Nash hits a three to take a two point lead 102-100 Suns with 3 minutes left and the crowd is going fucking nuts. Rob comes back after the timeout and drops a three to make it 103-102 Spurs, Manu goes behind his back reverse spin on Marion for the layup 105-102 Spurs. Then Stoudemire misses a layup and Manu takes his famous hop back jumper against Marion to make it 107-102 Spurs.

9. 2005 Finals Game 5 - Duncan looks amazing for three quarters, but has nothing left in the tank in the fourth thanks to two bad ankles. Rob puts up the legendary performance of legendary Spurs playoff performances to take up the slack, scoring 21 points, with his first points being from a three with one second left in the third and his last the shot to take the 96-95 lead that was the final score.

10. 2007 WCSF Game 6 - Everyone knew Spurs-Suns was the Finals that year, and in a title clinching game (:lol Utah and Cleveland) Manu Ginobili had the greatest game he has ever played: 33 points on 11-17 shooting, 11 rebounds, 6 assists, and 4 steals. He was everywhere that night and completely broke the game open in the third. Parker and Duncan had huge games too in clinching title #4.

11. 2008 WCQF Game 1 - Tim Duncan 40 points. The Suns kept coming so close to stealing this, and then they let Finley get open for the three to force OT. Duncan hits the three to force 2OT. Nash hits a crazy fadeaway three from the baseline that looks like it could force 3OT, but Ginobili hits the gamewinning layup on Raja Bell.

12. 2012 WCSF Game 3 - Spurs are down 24 to the Clippers in the second and come back and completely blow the game open. I'll always love the 2011-12 Spurs because that's where the current iteration of the team based on precision ball movement and lots of cuts was born.

13. 2013 Finals Game 3 - Danny Green and Gary Neal go nuts from the three point line and the Spurs blow the Heat out by 36 to take a 2-1 lead in the Finals.

14. 2014 Finals Game 3 - OK, so Miami is coming back home with the series tied 1-1 after handing the Spurs a bitter loss on their own homecourt. So the Spurs respond by starting the game shooting 19-21 to take a 25 point lead while setting an NBA Finals record of 76% for a half. Then withstand a monster Heat run and blow the game back open again to hand Miami a crushing defeat.

15. 2014 Finals Game 5 - The Spurs overcome a 22-6 deficit with a 59-22 run to finally pay Miami back for 6 and cap off the greatest redemption story in league history, while also setting a record for best FG percentage and best point differential in Finals history. This capped off a postseason with 12 wins of 15+ points, and the series was so lopsided it broke the 2x defending champions up.

Duncan's 3pointer game against PHX in 2008 always stands out to me for some reason tbh. I just remember going crazy watching the game.

It's followed closely by Tim ending the Kobe/Shaq 3peat in 03.

So if I have to pick one game, it is:

4. 2003 WCSF Game 6 - After narrowly escaping Game 5 when Robert Horry's three bounced out, no one was giving the Spurs much of a shot to close LA out on the road in Game 6. Duncan comes in and puts up 37 and 16 in front of Jack and Parker has a monster 27 point game, including a back-breaking layup at the end of the third that really seemed to break the Lakers spirit. I remember trying to get engaged to the NBA again after MJ's retirement and coming across that Spurs-Blazers game in 99 with all that noise, that excitement and when that guy with those badass elbow and knees pads (don't judge me I was just 12 back then) hit that crazy shot I recall thinking "There's life after Jordan afterall".

I tend to like awesome regular season Spurs games more than playoffs, which are nerve wracking and make me anxious more than anything. The game against Dallas where Pop benched the starters and the other guys came in and almost won it was awesome. That is distinctly the first time I remember thinking Danny Green could really be special. Kawhi's buzzer beater against Cleveland. Tony's career high against the TWolves I think. This year we played a 2OT game against the Wizards without Manu, Tony, or Kawhi that was one of the most awesome basketball games I've ever seen, with TD going vintage for 31, 11, and 5.

Tied between Game 6 of this year's WCF (maybe it's fresh on my mind but there were quite a few memorable moments) and Game 5 of the 2005 Finals (Game 7 of that series was also an [underrated] all-time Spurs classic because of the suffocating defense the Spurs played down the stretch against one of the best defensive teams of all time). And an honorable mention to David Robinson's last game in '03.

Probably one of the best games ever tbh. You could put it up there with Game 6 of 2013 of more recent Finals' games. Obviously we both like one more than the other due to a common reason.

A few others:
- 2005 Finals Game 7 - looking bleak midway through the second quarter, Tim and Manu took over. No looking back after taking lead around halftime. Nothing beats game 7 of the Finals.
- 2014 WCF Game 6 - probably the best of all these games given the level of competition. Finally expelled the Thunder demons

In a vacuum (for thrill factor, even if less meaningful in the grand scheme of things):
- 2011 First Round Game 5 - yes we ended up losing to the Grizzlies in the next game, but the finish with the Manu toe on the line three and the Neal tying three was great
- 2013 WCSF Game 1 - crazy double OT game against Golden State

I'll catch a lot of heat for this one, but 6 (and 7) from last year in a way made this year's title that much sweeter. And for good measure, let's add in the Roger Mason Jr. Christmas Day game (one of few bright spots from the dark years between the 2008 and 2012 WCF appearances ... 11 and 12 on your list).

And not for the basketball, but 2013 First Round Game 4 was officially the end of the Kobe era in LA and may be the last time a team he is on ever sniffs the playoffs - understood he was hurt by that point, but was great watching Baynes piss off Dwight into getting tossed.

Game 5 of the 2011 WCSF against Memphis was good too. We won but ultimately lost the series in Game 6.

Indeed. I tend to erase how that season played out so it slipped my mind. :lol

I also really enjoyed the 2010 series against Dallas. It was fun seeing the Spurs knock out the Mavs as the 7th seed and getting their revenge for 06 and 09.

For me, it comes down to either 2003 WCF Game 6 or 2005 Finals Game 5.

Being in Australia, basically the only NBA I could catch pre~2000 was on 'NBA Action' or other weekly highlight TV shows that we SOMETIMES got to watch - or grabbing the sports section on the paper and hoping they had the box score for me to read - so the first real championship run I got to watch (thanks internet recordings!) was the 2003 run and I remember watching the box score come flying back up to a win in that game. It was amazing, but probably a little sentimental.

Now that I think about it however, it was definitely the Big Shot Bob game. I remember watching a dodgy live stream at work and watching the box score and reading here. Such a great freaking game. Other than, ya know - 2013, definitely the hardest series the Spurs have faced.

The 2003 close out of the Lakers will always be sweetest to me. They had just wrecked us the previous years, it was miserable. Yeah, they jacked up with Payton and Malone and we couldn't get past them the following year, but at least the Pistons took them apart for good.

In that game was the first time I remember really noticing Ginobili's euro step, the crazy one driving straight at Shaq. It was mind boggling at the time.

1. Game 5 2005 Finals - :worthy: Horry :worthy:
2. Game 2 1999 WCF - Memorial Day Miracle
3. Game 6 2014 WCF - I haven't felt more fulfilled after a win. Fuck Meth/Durbeta/Chimpbrick/African cab driver/Fisher/Butler.
4. Game 6 2003 WCSF - Duncan closing out 3-peat Lakers
5. Game 6 2003 WCF - Captain Jack and Kerr were amazing

I would have to agree with you there. I have Dallas game 6 up there in 03 as well, but that was not for the title as game 5 was IMO, that game was HUGE. We all know if the Spurs lose that game 5 it's over, hell we lost game 6 against Detroit. Game 5 is my all time fave, Memorial Day Miracle and a few others after that closely but game 5 it is.

1. 05 game 5 vs Detroit.... Damn I was nervous, but Big Shot did it again, not just with the 3 pointer, but the guy went crazy for the last 15 minutes.
2. 08 game 1 vs Phoenix.... Finleys big shot, Duncan's 3 pointer and Manu's winner. It was nice beating the Suns once again.
3. 14 game 5 vs Miami.... This one felt the best, I mean every one was great but this one was just really satisfying... After last year and being afraid that 6 could hapen again we all needed this.
4. 03 game 6 vs Nets.... That was my first time watching the Spurs win, cause I wasn't a fan in 99 and started following the Spurs in 2000 season the 03 will always be special. Also Tim went crazy that game, just like the whole 03 playoffs.
5. 05 game 7 vs Detroit.... Ater being down at the half and it being a close series it really could go either way. Thank god for Tim and Manu.

There were some games like the 03 game 6 vs the Lakers I enjoyed but I didn't watch that live.

Maybe I'm just an oldie but for me it has to me the memorial day miracle. There are so many other great moments but to me this is what set the tone and over the hump that the Spurs were now legit winners for years to come.

Close second for me would be the TD 3 pointer. I went bat shit crazy when that happened and im usually a very laid back person.

However after saying all this I don't want to take anything away from the Horry Crazy heroics. My god! there are just way to many moments it's so hard to really choose!!! lol I'm so happy to be a fan of this team!

As Spurs fans, it's incredible the long list of games we have to choose from for favorites!
Can you imagine if this same question was posed on a Clippers or Twolves site?

1. Beat Denver in game 7. Get out of the first round. Garnett near triple double.
2. Beat number 1 seed Spurs on the final day of the regular season, qualified for the playoffs. Wally hits key three to win the game.

1. Won in Staples, for the first time as the road team.
2. Jack attends his first Clipper game without the Lakers. Clips lose to the Heat.

Seriously, for my Spurs favorites, I'd have to go with both clinching game 5s, the last (2014) and the first (1999). Really there is just too many to chose from.

2005 Finals Gm 5... Nine years later, it still stands the test of time. It just had a little bit of everything: two superb teams, a Finals series lead on the line, drama, tension, etc...

Then 2008 WCQF Gm 1. I remember waking up so early and shouting so loud when TD hit that three. It was crazy.

Those two are the ones that really don't need to be recalled much to be remembered.

Wow! SO many great games in this team's storied history. Just reading through this thread puts a smile on my face as a Spurs fan. I remember each and every one of those games. It is so hard to pick a favorite. So many great memories.

I was 11 years old when the Spurs drafted Tim Duncan, and I have been lucky enough to witness the incredible career of my favorite athlete of all time. It has been AWESOME to watch him and the Spurs over the past couple decades. I have never seen a team like the Spurs or franchise player the like Timmy before. Truly an honor!

2014 WCF Game 6 should be up there.

Spurs lose Parker in the 2nd half but still maintain a lead into the fourth. The Thunder come roaring back and its home crowd goes crazy. Westbrook and Durant hit some clutch shots and suddenly erases the Spurs' sizable lead. The crowd is in a frenzy now and it looks like a Thunder victory is inevitable. Then Duncan sets a crushing screen on Fisher and frees up Ginobili for a clutch 3. Ginobili nails the 3 but the game goes to overtime.

The announcers can't keep mouthing off about how old the Spurs are the and the youth of the Thunder would seal the game in overtime. Flashbacks of 2012 start, Manu is tired, Parker is injured, and the young players start to look nervous. But the 38 year old Tim Duncan refuses to die. Just as the Thunder seem to grab control in overtime, Duncan scores 7 straight Spurs points to seize the lead and finish off the Thunder. Leonard's steal/block of Westbrook's transition layup also quashes any chances of a Thunder comeback. That series could have easily been the finals of 2014.

I would say game 6 vs the Lakers in '03. That was for me my favorite game of all time because for the last few years prior to game 6 the Lakers had a talked a lot of shit about the Spurs and rubbed it in whenever they won. The asterisk talk was annoying along with Duncan isn't the real MVP bs started by Kobe,Shaq, and Phil. It was great to see Duncan take huge shit on them along with the spurs following his lead in the game. It was icing on the cake to see Kobe and Fisher in tears along with seeing Shaq in a state of shock at the end of the game. After winning that game it was a foregone conclusion the spurs were going to win it all that year. I hated losing to Miami last year but I didn't hate the heat like I hated the Lakers so game 6 is my all time favorite.

:tu I still have the Duncan 1998 game on my old VCR :lol

Lakers @ Spurs

Second Spurs game I got to attend, even though SA lost in 2OT it was Manu's coming out party. Played without Timmy and TP against LA's new big 4 at the time. I had been a Spurs fan growing up, but Manu's emergence ended up being the catalyst for me becoming a spursfan for life.

I know it wasn't playoffs, but I've always had a soft spot for Manu's career game against Phoenix in 2005. Spurs were trailing big-time in the fourth quarter in that one, but it's like Manu just said "fuck it...I'm not losing to these whiny ass bitches tonight".

From 1999 two lesser known games
About two thirds through the regular season- the Jazz where still considered the favorites at the time
The Spurs went into Salt Lake City and beat the Jazz soundly- held them to 69 points. At that moment I starting thinking this team could win it all.
Game3 WCF- Spurs up 2-0 tight game, Duncan on the bench with fouls and the Spurs behind Robinson demolish the Blazers in the 3rd quarter.

Outside of that
03 finals game 6 Robinson leaving as a champ
14 finals game 5 so satisfying.

2003 vs Lakers best game I've ever seen, specifically the point where they got separation towards the end of the 3rd.

I remember Tom Tolbert stating that LA would make a run to make the Spurs sweat in the 4th, and swiftly retract that remark when Ginobili criss crossed the shit out of Shaq.

It went from an expected nail-biter to a scene of Kevin Willis thunderous putbacks and Steve Smith corner 3s. LA was left literally in tears as their run ended spectacularly.

*bittersweet part of the epilogue is the following year where once again a last second game 5 shot determined the series winner*

I forgot Game 3 of that series. That was easily the most dominant defensive performance in franchise history. I remember the Blazers coming out red hot in the first quarter complete with a bullshit luck shot by Rasheed at the end of the quarter and then the Spurs held them to some ridiculous number, like 20% shooting in quarters 2,3,4. Must have been that, since Portland shot 24.7% for the game. :lol

I have to admit I have never seen most of Game 4 of the 99 WCF though, because I immediately drove to the Dome to spend the night in line for Finals tickets midway through the second quarter. I was like 12th in line and then in the morning the police went and kicked something like 9 homeless people from Houston who were ahead of me out of line; scalpers bussed them in and the police kicked them out because none of them had any money (scalper was just going to stand at the head of the line and hand them the money when it was their turn). :lol

0. 1998 WCSF Game 1 - In his playoff debut Tim Duncan completely takes over the second half of the game, destroying Antonio McDyess and Hot Rod Williams and setting the stage for a career of dominance over the Suns. Duncan cannot be stopped!

1. Game 6 vs. OKC in 2014..it had "Spurs loss" written all over it once they collapsed in the 4th, yet they somehow kept their composure and won it..Duncan and Ginobili capping it off in clutch time made it even more special, along with Kawhi's historic strip of Westbrook..

2. Game 5 vs. Detroit..most unbelievable performance(Horry) that I've ever seen, tbh..

3. Game 6 vs. the Lakers in 2003..Spurs finally turned the corner, Duncan dominating, Fisher and Kobe crying, etc..

4. Game 6 vs. Dallas..Steve Kerr:lol

Game 6 2003 vs LA is a no-brainer as my favorite Spurs game of all time. But damn it's tough to pick a second favorite. My top three contenders

+ Game 5 vs Detroit in 2005 with Rob killing shit in perhaps the most amazing role player performance in NBA history, like ^Gaddafi was saying
+ Game 3 vs Miami in 2014 with Leonard killing Miami in transition, especially off steals from Green (he had five steals that game)
+ Game 5 vs Miami in 2014 with Ginobili and Leonard dragging the Spurs back from a 22-6 deficit and then Mills finishing Miami off for good, and breaking them up. After the way Manu played the last two games of the 2013 Finals it was great to see him be the biggest reason the Spurs won the title clincher. It was like watching 07 or 08 Ginobili.

If I'm picking my favorite Spurs loss of all-time, that one's a no-brainer too: Game 4 of the 2014 WCF when Corey Joseph, Patty Mills, Boris Diaw, and Matt Bonner kept making runs in a game that should have been over, forcing Brooks to play his main guys for almost the entire game. That paid such dividends in Games 5 & 6 when OKC looked gassed.

co-signed. all those guys take a lot of shit yet were huge in the long run.

my memory of the Manu choking in 2006 was I was on vacation in Hawaii, and I was trying to follow the game with the car radio when that fateful moment happened. so I don't recall seeing it live until later. Didn't become a fan til 04, so I'm not gonna pick a game from before then. I think the poll should include game 6 of this years Spurs Thunder series, I think that may have been the most nervous I had ever been in a non Finals game just because this year really felt like it was our last chance and that game had such huge implications. Obviously now that we've won it, I think we have the best chance of anyone to win it next year, but I just don't think the team could have mentally afforded to lose again last year and still make a deep push this year.

Back to the poll though, Spurs Suns where Duncan hit the 3 and and the game where we won the championship this year are my favorite games. It's a shame that I can't place game 6 of Spurs Heat 2013, because that probably was the best basketball game I had ever seen in terms of my enjoyment and how into it I was. I remember losing my mind when Parker hit the step back 3 over Lebron, and actually kind of tearing up when we were up 5 with 28 left. It was just so surreal that we had won sucha dog fight against prime Lebron and co.

And for me, the most intense and satisfying game was 2014 WCF Game Six.

We'd lost like 8 times straight in Chesapeake. There we are, 4th quarter in their house. Elimination game. It feels like the Tim Duncan era is on the line. Manu hits the crucial three. We go to overtime. Duncan closes out in OT. Guarantees the rarest of opportunities - revenge

Mine is Game 7 of the 2008 West Semis vs New Orleans. Here's why:

I absolutely despised Chirs Paul back then. He was the media's darling and was considered the next "great" point guard. But back then he was actually just a little punk who took cheap shots whenever he could, and who flopped constantly. I couldn't stand him. And when New Orleans went up 3-2 in that series I remember being just furious. I couldn't believe we were going to loose to that little creep and let him end our dynasty. And the media wanted it to happen SO bad. They openly rooted for New Orleans to finish off the old and boring spurs. That's the first time I really got the sense that everyone hated us. It was us against the world from that point on. Has been ever since.

After we smashed them at home in game 6, everyone just assumed New Orleans would win game 7 at home (And why not? They had crushed us in all 3 games on their floor thus far). But instead, the Spurs won convincingly, and Chris Paul played terribly. The Spurs weren't a great team that year, (They would go on and get smashed 4-1 by the Lakers in the WCF) but the Big 3 weren't about to let Chris Paul show them up and beat them.

And everyone assumes New Orleans was a bad team and Chris Paul had no help. WRONG. New Orleans was the #2 seed in the West, and was loaded with a prime David West, Peja Stojakovic, and Tyson Chandler as complementary pieces. If the Spurs hadn't taken them out, the Lakers would have been in big trouble in the WCF. And that's why game 7 was so special. It was about pride for the Spurs. They had gotten blown out all 3 games at New Orleans, and they just refused to lose. The series was so personal. Parker and Manu despised Chris Paul even more than I did. I knew we wouldn't beat the Lakers that year, but beating New Orleans in game 7 on their floor and crushing the media's and Chris Paul's chance at upending the Spurs dynasty brang me the most joy I've ever had as a fan.

This topic should have been split between playoff games and regular season games. Playoff games are so fraught with additional tension because of their importance. I was at the 5th game in this year's finals and can't imagine any game that will ever mean as much to me than that.

As far as a regular season game, let's go back in the wayback machine.

I'm not sure about the date, but the Spurs and Bucks linked up in a classic 3 overtime game which at one time was the second highest scoring game (171) in NBA history.

The remarkable thing about the game was the scoring duel between Mike Newlin and George Gervin. Newlin was a great shooter and of course GG was the best. They matched each other basket for basket during the regulation game and then through the overtimes until Newlin finally crapped out. Gervin went for 53 points and Newlin had 46. I had the official stat sheet from the game for years until my condo was destroyed by Hurricane Ike.

The game was so close for so long that each point/basket that tied and sent the game on and on was completely crazy.

Great thread and very hard to answer as we've all been spoiled with many great games during Tim's career. Every time Tim bitch-slapped the Utah Jazz was sweet but I'd have to go with Game 5 vs. Pistons.

That was an unbelievable performance by Horry and in the toughest of circumstances. The Spurs had been pounded and manhandled in Games 3 & 4 by the Pistons and things looked bleak. Enter Robert Horry and that 3 he made at the end of the 3rd. The rest is history. Few remember that Horry played like dogshit in the 1st half or even worse, made no impact whatsoever. He solidified his place in Spurs lore with his 4th quarter and OT heroics. Simply amazing.

Honorable mentions go to:

1. Game 6 vs Nets (DRobs last game and second Championship) / Tim's near quadruple double.
2. Game 3 vs Heat in 2014. Kawai's incredible performance.
3. Game 5 vs Heat in 2014. # 5
4. Game 6 vs Lakers - 2003. Ending the Lakers run for 4peat with 28 pt victory. First series loss for Lakers in Staples.
5. Reg. Season, comeback victory against Suns when Manu went for 48 pts.
6. Game 6 vs. Thunder - 2014. Spurs weren't going to be denied.
7. MDM - Sean's unbelievable shot. Few remember that Portland still had last shot of game to win. Spurs D held.
8. Game 6 vs Mavs - 2003. Steve Kerr / Stephen Jackson lead amazing comeback to head back to Finals.
9. Game 4 vs Heat - 2014. Leonard's put-back dunk of Mills' missed 3. Broadcasters gushing over the Spurs and all but declaring them Champs.
10. Game 3 vs Clippers - 2012. Spurs comeback from 20+pts down to roast the Clippers in Los Angeles.

I don't think I can pick a favorite but that was definitely the game that made me say Holy Shit! the most times.

I still say it every time I see it.
