Hey when the USA are a level above any other competition and their goal was to be on the podium, up to this point Oz mens basketball has not achieved and have been hammered for it, they gotta do what they gotta do..... even if it means having a Pop inspired rest loss to avoid the US.
Really wish Patty could have played, though I'm glad he is rehabbing and getting his rest. Was cool to watch him go off in the Olympics last year, and would have been fun to watch him play with the green light during the World Cup this year.
Hopefully Baynes brings the goods for the Aussies.
#comebackpatty
This should be a really good test for Baynes going up against a great defender like Asik.

With patty aussies advance but baynes be in shadow. Would they have played Americans if they won last game? If not maybe theyd have gone farther. Well hopefully baynes makes a freakin decision now.

What's the deal with Exum, is he as bad as some of those box scores indicate?
Also, how did Baynes play?

I did get to see the end of the game. It was inbounded to Baynes, who held it for a second while one of his teammates went over top of him for the hand off. Baynes set the pick, but then the guy with the ball went Tony Parker and, well, we all know how that ends. Dribbledribbledribbledribble, get surrounded by 3 guys, flail, lose ball, game over. :lol
And for the Dante Exum question, yeah he does suck as much as the box score indicates. There's a reason why he doesn't get much playing time; I don't get the draft hype about this guy. He's almost Errors-awful. Almost.

Yes. Perhaps NBA stlye will suit him better, but right now he looks like a 10 year old there.

What little i saw of Exum, he was terribad. Baynes was good to great, but to be honest he didn't exactly face top notch competition at his position.
Sucks for the Aussies. Glad Baynes made it through the tournament healthy (and doesn't have any more games to drive up his value :lol)

Thanks, jeebus!!! Baynes has improved his game plus his confidence has clearly increased over the past year.

There is absolutely no doubt that Australia tanked against Angola, but any other team in the same situation would do the same thing and try to avoid the USA. The problem is actually that the World Championships aren't structured properly - the group cross-overs should be randomly determined as soon as the group stage is finished. That way there would be no incentive to tank in any game.
People love to rip on Exum, but the kid was always going to be a project! He's very young and his body is nowhere near strong enough yet, but he does show flashes of basketball excellence. Give him four years and he'll be a very good player.
I wish we'd re-sign Baynes already. :rolleyes
