View Full Version : Manu still hurt about World Cup fiasco

Ginobili on World Cup: We had a talk (to clear the air with Buford, Pop.) I was hurt. I understand why they did it. But I didn't like it.

Takeaway from Manu, made absolutely no bones about still being ticked at Pop, Spurs for barring World Cup. "I was hurt, and I'm still hurt."

Is Manu serious? The world cup was a complete joke and Argentina got blown out by Brazil in the quarter-finals with 300 people in attendance.

I understand him being upset that the decision was taken out of his hands, but otherwise, he needs to get over missing such an insignificant event.

You are presupposing based on what you read without complete understanding of what he tried to convey IMHO.

I don't think you give him enough latitude for being a mature discriminating adult simply because you seem to make your judgements based on your limited maturity level IMHO.

After the 2013 season, even without a story like angry not playing World Cup, with Manu I'll always keep my doubt, he was great last season for us and I thank him, but i can't forget how he disappointed me in the 2012/2013 season with lack of competitiveness and being not prepared, soft and Manu i never knew...

How can he have watched the ARG national team in FIBA and have thought "man if I were only out there we wouldn't be scraping by Gilas and losing to Brazil by 20"? The fact that Manu would worsen his health to play on that washed up team, for that fucked up program, is kinda disappointing IMO. It will never make sense to me why NBA stars waste their summers playing in front of soccer fans in 80-75 games. I am so glad Kawhi spent the offseason training and working on his game, and not learning some shitty college system and playing with Harden's lazy ass.

Fucking this. There were like 5 people at his trophy presentation/conference in Argentina and I'm pretty sure ElNono payed 3 of them to be there. Those lame fucks don't appreciate Manu like real NBA fans do. Guess it's that Argentinian pride or some bullshit.

I didn't want him to play for ARG and ultimately I'm glad he did not. He was asked about the whole thing and he spoke about it, but he's the ultimate pro. The mid-September soap operas don't really matter, tbh. With Gino you just have to hope he can play when we get to the real season, because as we seen last season, he's still a key piece on our team.

I can understand him wanting to play, but there were plenty of chances to bitch about it at the time (and he did).

The fact that he continues to whine, even after he himself proved that the Spurs decision to hold him out was valid (because of the pain he experienced when he was considering having the decision overturned) AND that he's still not 100% even without playing for ARG this summer is what disappoints me.

This pretty well sums it up for me.

Manu has always been my very favorite player to watch, especially when he is not turning it over, but this summer's whining is getting on my nerves. He KNEW he couldn't play when it hurt him so badly after one practice. Given that, he should really stop bitching about what the team decided, since it proved to be correct.

Get over it already, Manu!

But the 'hurt' in question referred to the decision by the team. Thus, he wouldn't say he was 'injured' by the team's decision...he was saying that his feelings were hurt.

Yes, the new Melian definition of "It still hurts." Is: "It no longer hurts." :)

C'mon, Mel! As soon as the last syllable fluttered over his lips, it was "in the past" that he said it...and on Thursday he hadn't said it in a while untill he flapped his gums on Friday. If anything, Manu is picking at the scab. It died down on here.

The Spurs have sacrificed enough for Manu to play summer ball. I love Manu, but he needs to get over it. If today's performance was any indication, he had no chance of playing in the summer and shouldn't have.
