yup, when they were a laughing stock under the Versailles treaty just a few years prior. Hitlers biggest mistake was not laying low for about 15-20 years and not giving their recovery more time to pick up steam while building up arms very slowly and discretely. With a few more years the Luftwaffe could have ruled the skies and made things a lot easier.
