View Full Version : What About Wally ?

Recently the spurs had been looking to move 2 players, Nesterovic and Barry. Their salaries together make like $11.500.000.
Wally Szczerbiak will make $10.000.000 for next season.

During the last seasons Wally proved that he can be either a very good starter or a supersub and i believe that he doesn't want to be a sub in Minnesota anymore. I think that if he could come to San Antonio at least he would be more motivated of playing for a championship even though he wouldn't start.

The trade idea would be directly Wally for Nesterovic and Barry.

With this deal Minnesota could get Rasho back as a very good addition considering their needs and Barry to replace Wally in his position.

Although Wally's contract last for 4 years we would save at least a bit of money this year besides Wally is a bit younger than Rasho and a lot younger than Barry so we would get a bit younger. Moreover Rasho's contract also last for 4 years.

I'm not sure why the Spurs would want Szczerbiak. He's nothing special for a lot of money and add little more than 15 points and loads of grief for everyone around him.

As a Suns fan, I'd be thrilled if you net him. Mostly because with the limited minutes he'll be receiving, he'll bitch and moan within a month, the pout, spout off and more importantly, break plays and start chuckin'.

Why do you think Garnett hates him so much?

I'm not sure why the Spurs would want Szczerbiak.

They wouldn't. The Spurs wouldn't take on a player that makes more than Ginobili or Parker unless it was a franchise player. Wally? Not even close.

well, he is overpaid but Rasho is also. And he could play at least 22 minutes per game in the rotation replacing Barry.
About you say about his attitude, if something like this could happen the spurs organization would have prior with Wally to make sure of what his role would be on the team and things like that.

Rasho & KG will both say NO to the idea:rolleyes

Wally wants to be a #1 guy. He wants all the glory. In his mind, every failure is justified for that fleeting moment when he wins the game for his team or when he scores 35 on 50% shooting.

Thing is, the bad outnumbers the good prolly 4-1 with Wally.

He's Antione Walker, minus 30 pounds and the charisma.

I'd pay to keep either OFF the Suns.

yeah, lol.

It is hard to make up a good deal with Rasho and Barry together. Another that i thought was for Tim Thomas, who is expiring and could be the kind of athletic player that San Antonio is looking for Barry.

But i doubt New York would like to add more contracts for the years to come.

No one said anything about Tim Thomas. :oops . Wally's idea sounds more silly now that i think about it but i posted to at least give some new ideas.

Wally sucks imo. His defense also sucks big time. Offensively, he aint a 3 pt threat. Hes not a post threat. Hes just a spot up shooter. Why do we want him? for that insane contract? Barry will do much better this coming season. Remember I said this. Spurs wont be trading him.

Oh and btw, I dont think Rasho is overpaid. Hes overpaid if hes going to have 82 games on the bench playing 5 mins a night. If hes starting or playing 20-30 mins a game. Hes not overpaid. Would you rather pay for Rasho or Jerome James? Please all you Rasho haters out there should really be a little more objective. Not that I have nothing against Rasho but I think hes getting too much rap for everything and anything.

haha the only benefit wally would get is that he wont be getting kicked in the face as gospursgojas sig explains lol, oh and he'd have a better chance of winning a championship, but we dont need him, who the hell in their right mind would name their child wally anyway

I agree that Rasho is not overpaid. He is simply underutilized. It is sad that many fans now think of Rasho as some kind of joke. I remember when Duncan and parker were both hurt at the beginning of the 2003-2004 season and Rasho filled in well for Duncan. I consider Rasho more talented offensively than Mohammed because he has a jumpshot, a hookshot, and a fallaway jumper---he also catches passes. All he needs to work on is dunking the ball.
I remember watching game 7 of the Finals and pleading with Popovich to please put in Rasho in the second half. Didn't happen but that was still my thought at that particulat time. If he is traded, so be it, but I for one think that he has value. Stephen A. Smith might consider Rasho a joke, but in some circles, Stephen A. Smith is a joke.

I don't get the hate towards Barry. He was integral in the Detroit series. Him and Ginobili handling the rock when Parker was not on the floor allowed the Spurs to at least intiate some sort of offense. He was also big in Game 1 vs. Phoenix. Yes, expectations were higher than the actual results, but the expectations were quite high to begin with.
Anyways, the Spurs need a Bowen backup, Wally is not that somebody.

the spurs showed some interest in the past for him.You mean when they went ot Slovenia the first day of free agency to contact Rasho and didn't call Kandi once all summer?

If we traded for Kandi, we'd probably end up waiving him a la Mercer -- all the mistakes and stone hands of Nazr without the effort....

Agreed! If the Kandi man was so good, Minny wouldnt be struggling. Why the heck would we want him. I think he is much worse than Rasho will ever be. Kudos to Buford and Pop for making the right decision to sign Rasho over the Kandi ass.

or was it in 2003? iirc, it was in one of timmy's mvp years. Refs just wanted to pull even that day. Also, it was the first ejection timmy had in his career.

Why would you want to help your rivals get better? If they get Rasho, we get the candy man, I see the Wolves better.

Do you know why the Spurs wanted Tariq? cause he has an expiring contract and he can address our backup at the 3. Tariq has quite a high ceiling but due to all the injuries, his growth spurtered. I think the Spurs were willing to give him a shot at addressing our need at the 3 and if it didnt work out we trade him before the deadline.
