After learning he was just three goals away from becoming La Liga’s all-time leading goalscorer following a fantastic showing over the weekend, the Argentine star learned Friday that he will go on trial for alleged tax evasion, a crime he has long blamed on his father Jorge, who Messi claims was handling his finances. The pair, both of whom deny any wrongdoing, has been accused of defrauding the Spanish government of roughly $5.3 million.
