The NE offense is simply a lot weaker than it has been for a while, and Tom is a little too old to carry it. I don't think he's slumping; I think he's seriously declining. But on a team with better players, he can still do his job. So I do think he can improve if he leaves the Pats for a Tampa or Houston, provided the OCs don't suck and coach to Brady's strengths.

Fair enough. I doubt the Pats are even considering moving Brady right now. This will be an end-of-year kinda thing, and even so, I think their backup would have to look really good for New England to move on. The salary becoming guaranteed really isn't a big deal, as the Pats will be able to get out of it using a trade.
