Cowboys on the road the last two seasons and the first five of 2014...10-11

The Seahawks at home in the same period....17-1.

The Cowboys winning their first three road games of a season....only once in the last decade, it happened in 2007. A year they went 13-3.

The Cowboys have beaten Tenn and St. Louis on the road while the Seahawks took down the Broncos and Green Bay at home.

Think about that.

Don't get too carried away with home wins, any decent team should win their home games, it's how they do on the road that really tells the tale. So far the Cowboys have nothing as 'roadwarriors" to give the impression they can beat a stud team at their place.

I said in the Cowboys' thread that I'm not expecting much from the Cowboys on Sunday. I'm not gonna get my hopes up. Seattle is a physical defense, and the Cowboys haven't done well when facing a physical defense.

seattle is physical but the cowboys are physical as well. our o line is nasty, i wouldn't be surprised if the o line dominated the much smaller seattle d line.

Cowboys offensive line has a lot of young talent -- tremendous strength, especially when firing out. Outstanding at combos at the line.

Where Dallas' OL struggles to this point is in hitting their targets in slide protection/nailing defenders when blocking at second level.

There are times when Cowboys slide protection works, and others when it looks like five puppies on a kitchen floor.

Tyron Smith ioutstanding in pass pro as advertised. Free is the weak link. Major issues with quick kickslide/struggles vs. wide ends.

Ronald Leary is two different blockers. Can knock guys on their ***** with right pad level; gets keelhauled when he comes up high.

Zack Martin looks like a future Pro Bowler. Nasty as all hell, pulls well, and he's hard to rock off his base. As is Frederick.

Seattle is a smart defense, especially against an offense that's always trying to read and react. They'll trick Garrett and Romo into throwing the ball 60 times, and the Cowboys defense will suddenly look terrible again because they never get any chances to rest. I hope I'm wrong, but Ginger Landry has always reverted to form.

They've shown this year that it's not the case. Which is why they're 4-1. There are times where the past seasons they have tried to pass the ball, but this season they are rushing in those situations. The addition of Scott Linehan has really helped this team.

Yeah it's going to be important that we score early and get off to a good start. The last thing we need is to be is down a possession or two and having that offense line wear us down.

Yeah, obscenely hot weather won't be a factor so extended drives won't drain us nearly as much. But, at the same time, that offensive line is a different animal altogether. I'd rather make Romo try to make plays into coverage as opposed to seeing Murray get 30 touches. Make them one dimensional on the passing side as early as possible.

The running game is definitely why they're 4-1, but after last year, I just don't trust Romo or Garrett to stick with it. They needed a first down to burn the clock at the end of the Texans game and they threw the ball. Romo was going back to pass on the delay of game, and they threw it the next two times. :bang

The other problem that the Cowboys may run into is Romo trying to change the play, which won't work in Seattle. He likes to get cute and run the clock all the way down. If he doesn't just run the play that's given to him, they're gonna have a hard time.

And y'all haven't faced an OL like Dallas'.

Your run defense is a tad better than 49ers'. Murray dropped 118 yards on them. I'd argue that our OL has improved since then.

Agreed. They gotta take the ball outta Romo's hands. If Murray gets 25+ carries I like our chances. Time of possession will be huge in this one.

Oh, and I can't wait to see McClain v. Beast Mode.

Who have the Cowboys beat on the road the last two seasons? They struggled with Houston at home. What are we looking at that says they have a chance "in" Seattle? The Seahawks can beat the Packers. Broncos and Niners there, what, they can't beat the Cowboys also?

The Cowboys have beaten four teams with a combined record of......7-13.

The Seahawks have beaten three teams with a combined record of....7-7

4 catches on 10 targets... eh i'd call it a draw if anything

Only 2 of which were on Sherman. They lined up across from each other 48 times. 2 catches, 39 yards, and two poor penalties, one of which could've gone either way as Dez extended his arm first. So no, definitely no victory either way. That back shoulder leaping catch was nice though.

DPG21920
10-13-2014, 11:42 AM
So Dez won ^. Caught 50% of the balls in Sherman's face and would have been even more yards/catches without the penalty because he couldn't stop Dez. They aren't going to throw at him 12 times. They threw right at him though 5-6 times and he couldn't do much to stop Dez and his team lost.

False. Caught 33% of the balls, targeted six times with Sherm on him, 2-6. He actually defensed him pretty well, and his team didn't lose on account of his play, it was the offense that didn't show up. Add that to the fact that he shadowed him most of the game, we can start to put this "left side" nonsense to bed. Plus, most of the balls thrown didn't have Thomas in a play making position. Didn't do much to stop him? That's outlandish, and just as bad as me saying that Sherm shut him down. The "trip" was a tackle, it happened post catch. Go back and look. 2nd quarter, 1:02 on the clock. That was the only play where Dez could've had an opportunity to gain any sort of significant yardage post catch.

DPG21920
10-13-2014, 01:16 PM
No - you are couting the targets without catches but not the penalties.

DPG21920
10-13-2014, 01:18 PM
Dez > Sherm. Also :lmao at the "put to bed" comment because Sherm finally decided to come out of his protective shell for a little while. There reason there's any "non-sense" is because he sticks to one side the majority of the time seemingly.

Spur-Addict
10-13-2014, 02:06 PM
No - you are couting the targets without catches but not the penalties.

One penalty was on an actual catch, and it was added to the end of the run. And the other, you are assuming that he would've caught the actual pass attempt, or that he accumulates an extra 8 yards or so. Big deal :lol

He came out of his "shell", because we're down so many DB's (lost another during that game as well), and it would've been counter productive at that point to allow some scrub at the end of the rotation to get torched by Dez. You know, the same guy who gave up over 20 yards on a 3rd and 20 in the 4th quarter which was probably the most pivotal play of the game. It makes no sense to follow a WR around and compromise the defense in order to answer critics. Criticize all you want, we won a SB that way :lol

DPG21920
10-13-2014, 05:05 PM
That's fine, just don't then use some random throw away line like "put that to bed" when you yourself just validated the criticism.

Don't think so. They were up 26-3 at halftime against Green Bay last year and lost. They handed the ball to Murray three times in the 4th quarter. That's not playing from behind. That's throwing the ball with a lead. They did the much the same thing against Detroit and San Diego and Kansas City, all winnable games, any one of which would have put them in the playoffs. Chicago and New Orleans are the only games I can think of where you can say they just got beat.
