My feelings about Landon are mixed. When you listen to his interview, you will hear stuff that rubs you the wrong way but you have to tip your hat to his honesty.

He stated he simply wants the freedom of choice, that he hasn't had since he started playing Soccer at Age 5. No longer worrying about whether he has to drink water and sit on the couch on Saturday versus enjoying some beer and playing Volleyball with friends

Ultimately Landon was not a GOAT, even for USA soccer. Within time there will be a superior offensive player but whether that player can have the direct impact on USA soccer in International Competition, I dunno. And I say that because USA has improved. Landon was the only offensive star on an improving USA team but America has arrived.

Being a star in the MLS doesn't do it for me. He ultimately failed in Germany, at a time when the Bundesliga was not as strong as it is today. Jurgen's decision was justified by Landon retiring soon after.
