Just read on Hoopshype that NVE has been talking to from SA and the Heat. That sounds promising, since I heard somewhere before that he wanted to be in Texas. He would be a great back up PG and I would love watching him own someone else. Not to mention getting to see him shoot free throws from the top of the key...that always makes me smile.

Not a big NVE fan to begin with, but if he came here he would shoot 63% from the line, guaranteed.

Well Hoopshype's reputation around here isn't the greatest, but if it's true I'm happy. He'll be a good reliable backup as Beno continues to develop.

getting Oberto, and maybe sign Van Exel and Matt Barnes would be a good summer in anyones book;
even though I still wish something would happen with Gerald Wallace

Well, maybe he could teach everyone else to shoot from the jump ball circle.

Well Hoopshype's reputation around here isn't the greatest FWIW, it was quoted from a Denver Post (http://www.denverpost.com/nuggets/ci_2974218) article.

Well, that helps a little I guess. I'm starting to fall prey to the impatience that has struck alot of people around here, waiting for all of the amnesty casualities to get picked up and otherwise hearing the same old rumors everyday.

Finley is holding alot of moves up right now; I figure there will be plenty of moves after he makes his decision.

Well the talk has been Texas all summer long. I believe that the Rockets, Mavs, and Spurs were all targeting him at some point. By picking up Anderson the Rockets effectively ended that courtship and managed to shoot themselves in the foot on that one. If a ring is important to NVE I can't see him picking the Mavs over the Spurs, unless the Mavs can throw some huge sum of money his way. Does anybody know what, if any, money the Mavs have to spend at the moment?

I wouldn't mind NVE playing for the Spurs.

I would love to see the Quick in a Spurs Uni. He would be a killer off the bench, especially during playoff time.
Horry + NVE=2 headed monster off bench.
Htown people think they got NVE

The Mavericks signed like 5 guys over the past two weeks.
Doug Christie, DeSagana Diop, Darrell Armstrong, Josh Powell, and Rawle Marshall.
So I'm pretty sure we have more money to throw around than they do at this point. However, most of it will probably be put towards obtaining a wing, hopefully either Finley or Devin Brown. If we do sign Nick, it will probably have to be for the veteran minimum, or maybe just slightly higher.
But yes, it's easily his best chance for a ring in Texas.
Mr. Van Exel, oppurtunity is holding on line 1.

It looks like it's between Miami and San Antonio for Van Exel
Tony Dutt, agent for free agent Nick Van Exel, said he has not heard from the Nuggets. San Antonio and Miami have interest in the guard.
but I can't image that the other Texas teams have given up on him. Or maybe they have. I just always heard that he wanted Texas, so it's weird that Miami is in the mix now. Don't they have enough players already. :lol

Well Hoopshype's reputation around here isn't the greatest, but if it's true I'm happy
People say this on the forum everyday, and I just want to say something. Hoopshype just collects the info from newspapers, blogs, etc and places it on their site on their rumor page with the links. So if something is not true that's there, it's not the fault of hoopshype.
If you want to talk about the reputation of a site that "isn't the greatest around here" -- that's HoopsWORLD. Hoopsworld is the one that has a staff of writers who write their own articles and they are usually wrong (though Emmett Shaw is an exception).
I just wanted to get that off my chest. :lol

Does no one else besides me remember NVE singing "Cancun, Cancun!" at the final team meeting after the Lakers were eliminated one year, and Shaq being furious to the point of getting him run out of LA? Why would NVE want to go to Miami? Shaq basicly denied him 3 rings.

Who do you think is better as a player and also according to the spurs needs.
I personally believe that the spurs should do their best to retain Robinson for one more season but for veteran minimum and then sign Van Exel if it is possible to the remaining LLE.
Van Exel could fill the pg position so that would also help for making a space for Brown or any other sg-sf with possibilities of coming to the team. That is one point in favor of Nick.
Mr. Body

Robinson.
I think it's Finley at this point or Brown + Robinson. Big Dog fills in behind Bowen. I'm not convinced in any way the Spurs are interested in Van Exel.

Now that's a scary thought. If Miami has NVE backing up Williams I think they will shored up what I believe was going to be their big weakness this year-the point guard. Add Finley at the back-up SG, and the team looks like
PG- White Chocolate, NVE
SG-Wade, Finley
F-Posey, Walker
F-Haslem, Walker
C-Shaq
I don't know much about what the rest of the team will look like but if they land those two I think I'd have to pick them coming up out of the east.

Well Miami has already said that if they get Finley, then they are going after Van Exel. If they don't get Finley, then I guess they are supposed to re-sign Damon Jones.
I imagine if the Spurs got Finley, they'd likely want Van Exel too. Even if the Spurs don't get Finley, I think they want Van Exel.

I say that if San Antonio gets Finley they will have Van Exel almost in the team because we will still have the LLE. However, i don't know if signing Van Exel would be the best move if we get Finley.
I mean, Finley is a top class player so we should try to make him play the most minutes as possible.
In order to do this we should use players like Manu and Barry more often in the pg position. Besides, manu for example already proved to be capable of being a great pg with outstanding defense against other point guards.
If we get Finley i would try to go for someone younger and then maybe even re-sign Brown.

When did Manu play D on a point guard?

Why would you re-sign Brown if you had Finley? There'd be no minutes for Devin if Finley were here.

During the playoffs with the spurs, and with Argentina he played point guard several times as well.

Brown is much younger so Finley would be signed to a shorter contract and then when he leaves we would still have Brown. Besides by signing Brown we don't lose neither the MLE or the LLE. Unless we get something in return Brown should stay as a spur.
I would rather sign Brown to a 2 millons contract with multiyears and trade Rasho for an expiring contract rather than nothing.
