I'd be shocked if he asks for a trade, tbh..
He's chasing Dad Killer's points mark, that's all that matters for him and the Lakers this year..

Not disagreeing. Will he accept being embarrassed on a nightly basis and let his career end that way?

He's not demanding a trade. And nobody in their right mind would take on that horrendous contract. I honestly don't know what he'll do next summer though. I don't think he can take another two years like this one.

I don't think he cares, tbh..
- Getting paid 25 per year
- Literally won't receive any blame for this season, and rightfully so, as the Lakers' roster is one of the worst in recent history
- Gets to shoot as much as he wants, as they don't have a system, and Kobe is the only player on the team that can create his own shot
- Doesn't have to play any defense, because they aren't expected to compete
- Will surpass Dad Killer's points mark
Kobe has it pretty good this season, tbh..
He's more likely to ask for a trade during the off-season IMO..

He has no room tbh. He can't demand a trade and no one is dumb enough to trade for him, at least this season. I read Kobe to the Knicks scenario but I'd like to believe Phil is anything but an idiot.

Can Kobe recon structure his contract to be more team friendly?

I have to challenge you on this point. Kobe's supporting cast actually competed with two very good Western Conference teams on back-to-back nights. The ball was moving, the players were moving, and there was actual chemistry. Ed Davis and Jordan Hill are also proving to be effective bigs. James took such a scrubby roster to the NBA Finals.
Then Kobe checks in and it blows the fuck up.
I do agree with you that this is one of the worst rosters in NBA history when Kobe is added to the mix, since he's a notorious chemistry killer.
And if these Lakers wind up being one of the worst teams in NBA history, Kobe's legacy is deep fried.

I was messing around with that contract in the ESPN NBA trade machine and there isn't single deal that works without the other team getting fleeced. So even if he demands a trade, he's really untradeable. He's unfortunately stuck there unless the Knicks or Mavs make a move for him at a price, but it would be up to him. That contract isn't cap friendly at all, so he better get used to losing in LA this season.

Kobe for a used condom might work for Buss

Follow up actually Kobe for Amare works perfectly but what is the point of that trade for the Lakers? Kobe would have to demand it from the Lakers FO. The Mavs don't have anything to trade for him unless they give up both Chandler and Ellis.
So the Knicks are the only team that can realistically trade for Kobe straight up with Amare. He's staying in LA.

Why would the Mavs want Kobe, though?..
He doesn't fit in Carlisle's system, at all..

They were in talks for potential destinations if Kobe demands a trade. I agree. The team he fits in most would be the Bulls but a trade is not at all conceivable without gutting the core, at this point he ain't worth that. So he's pretty much untradeable unless Knicks swap Amare for him straight up and he and Lakers FO agree. I don't know how a Melo/Kobe duo would work, they both want shots and to be da man. So it seems he really is stuck with the Lakers till that contract runs out.

The Bulls would have to trade Noah and Taj for Kobe and no it's not worth it, and he does fit in the team needs a scorer. No chance of happening, Bulls wouldn't trade them for Love, they wont do it for a 36 year old Kobe who is just trying to pass MJ for points at this point, so no f**king way. Lakers have that contract set up in a way he is pretty much stuck there and he will have to deal with losing games in LA. If he wants out he will have to force a trade to Knicks for Amare, I don't see how that benefits the Lakers either, so he ain't being traded.

His head would explode, he can't take losing and with his shitty contract and that team around him he is not winning anytime soon.

I do not blame you, why would you?

That really stung at the time because so many of us, myself included, defended him when Ray Allen 2 years before called this. He said Kobe would ask for a trade after he couldnt pass the first round. I couldnt believe how predictable Kobe was being, at the same time, they weren't bringing in anyone to play aside him during his prime so I dunno.

If he gets traded it's to the Knicks and the Lakers would have to consent, so don't worry so much odds are he's stuck there till his contract runs out playing with the chumps in LA. Unless some NBA team foolishly guts their roster for him and he agrees to be traded there. The Bulls could trade Noah and Taj for Kobe and Robert Sacre, it worked in ESPN NBA trade machine (http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=ktpjvdh), but I don't think it's worth it and I bet the Lakers would do that trade in a second that would be great value back for him.

Because he ran off Howard and Gasol and no one wants to play with him. Why would he not deserve the blame for that?

I could see Kobe asking for a trade to the Sixers. They don't give a shit about winning and could sell a lot more tickets with him. They're also way under the cap so they could just straight up absorb that salary, or send back Jason Richardson's contract ($6.6M) if need be.
That and the whole :cry I'm coming home :cry angle.
