The biggest difference between the two conferences is the defenses and overall team speed, no conference compares to the SEC when it come to an over abundance of big fast athletes. There are no Reggie Whites, Janaveon Clowney's in the Big12.

Right now a case can be made for Kansas State being the best Big12 team, Alabama would be favored by 10 at KSU. MSU would be favored to beat TCU at their place. Auburn would be favored on the road vs any Big 12 team, anyone disagree?

Where are those Big12 teams right now when it comes to the Final Four, yep, not really in the mix....why?

World of difference between.....

Alabama
Auburn
MSU
LSU
Ole Miss

and

Kansas State
TCU
Baylor
Oklahoma
West Virginia

Georgia would beat..

Oklahoma State
Iowa State
Texas
TT
Kansas

There is a reason Texas A&M and Missouri are in the SEC now. Nebraska a Big10 team.

A little history lesson.

The old Big 8

Oklahoma
Kansas
Missouri
Nebraska
Oklahoma St
Kansas St
Iowa State
Colorado

Southwestern Conference

Arkansas
SMU
Rice
Baylor
Texas Tech
Texas
Houston
TCU
Texas A&M

Then there's the QB play....

SEC

Y.A.Tittle
Joe Namath
Cam Newton
Tim Tebow
Johnny Manziel
Joe Namath
Fran Tarkenton
Kenny Stabler
Bart Starr
Steve Spurrier
Peyton Manning

The Big12...hahahahaha!!!!!!!!

The passion we see for the sport a whole other thing in the south than anywhere else, especially out here in Cali. I have some relatives (by marriage) that live in Tennessee, all they ever talk about is Volunteer football. I don't know anyone around here all wrapped up in Fresno State or even USC/UCLA.

I'm not a fan but it is cool to see both schools coming on together, it's about time.

Yeah I agree....down here in the South we are very passionate about our college football. But some of it comes with a price. And by that I mean we've got a bunch of dumbass fans too. The guy who poisoned the trees at Auburn comes to mind....and basically anybody at a night LSU game in Death Valley. Went to one LSU night game with my wife (girlfriend at that time), mother, father, brother, and his wife. Drunk LSU fans (prob 30 people) wanted to fight us all just because we had on different jerseys and t-shirts.

I mean LSU fans are very passionate fans....but they should just move all of their kickoffs to noon. Can't give them people 10 hours to "fuel up".

I can see you get what I;m saying.

I'd like to recommend a couple great books on the south and football.

The Courtship of Marcus Dupree....Willie Morris

JOINER....James Whitehead

This one about a Texas College and it's first fast black player, SI calls it the greatest football book ever written....ENDZONE...Don Delillo
