2004-Minnesota would of been pretty tough opponent, and the Pistons would of been a much tougher matchup.
2008-We should of went to the finals that Lakers team was overrated, but Celtics would of beat us with a hobbled Ginobili.
2012-The Heat were on a mission, unless the Spurs swept the Thunder probably would of lost to the Heat.
2015-I hope...

The 2004 loss to Lakers is iffy. Fishers 0.4 shot happened and Spurs lost next game in LA. Say if they won and beat LA, that Pistons team was tough. IMO 2006 was the biggest letdown out of all the what if's, Spurs would have beaten that Miami team with Shaq and Wade. Obviously nothing can top the 2013 Finals loss.

So imo Spurs should have repeated long ago 2005, 2006. and should have won in 2013, so that would have made it 7 NBA titles with the 5 that happened for real. They will have that chance to repeat again this year, so I hope they are focused and ready. Everything else is shoulda coulda woulda, they have 5 NBA titles that happened for real, with a few clusterf*ck losses like 2004, 2006 and 2013.

I'm not going to complain about only having 5 titles as I work with a bunch of Timberwolves fans that would give anything just to have a shot at getting one championship.

Was the loss to Portland on Strickland's turnover in 90 or 91 tbh? I think the Spurs would've beat the Pistons but prolly not DK's Bulls. Other than that there's the obvious 2006 season, 2012, and 2013. Spurs wouldn't of beaten any of the three-peat Laker teams those years, would've been spanked by the 2004 Pistons or 2008 Celtics, and were just outplayed by the 95 Rockets.

^ I agree. WE should've won it all in 2006, 2012 & 2013. But then again we lucked out in 2007 tbh.

Bulls beat Portland that year and it was their second title, they beat LA in their first one I believe? I remember Magic was still around then MJ's shoulder shrug vs Portland. I don't think those Spurs would have beaten the Pistons that won back to back, they were too physical IMO and just a great team overall (Spurs were younger then). I don't even consider the early 90's Spurs as a should have won a title, if you want to talk that we can go the 95 Spurs that lost to Hakeems Rockets, they would have RUNG IMO! I can agree there.

2006 YES, 2012 probably and 2013 they had it so no question there they should have won that.

I agree on the three peat LA team not beating them, agree on the 2004 Pistons (No Barry or Nazr yet who were big against them) and the 2008 Celts, forget it we would have lost those series IMO.

Good overall post.

I think we could have beaten Dallas in 2007 but it would have been TOUGH, alot tougher than Utah that is for certain. That is being if that were the WCF with the seedings? Dallas choked the big one in that first round, damn a clear path to the finals if there ever was one. Phoenix was out toughest threat by far, once they were gone it was all gravy.

this thread is pathetic tbh, beyond Laker level entitlement (or delusion, take your pick.)

sadly, 99% of spurfans think this is 100% true, some probably think a few more should be in there. :lmao

In a Spurs-perfect world, we'd have 10 titles. If everything went our way, yeah.

But still. 50% isn't too bad.

As much as I also believe we could've won in 2006 had it not been the Manu on Dirk foul, we were also very lucky to be in the position to win the series.

If I recall correctly, we were done 1-3 in that series. Clawed back to take the series to game 7. And were down 20 points in game 7 only to take the lead on a Manu three with 30 seconds left.

Tim as i recall had plantar fasciitis that year and yet his numbers that series were 32.3/11.7/3.7/2.6. Pop got outcoached by Avery that series. He had a 7 man rotation.

We came back and should've closed it out tbh. Spurs fans will never forget 2006 & 2013.

I guess I had forgotten that Tim had that back then. I only recalled Tim having his worst years when he had plantar fasciitis in 2010-2011.

I just looked at the 2006 series results and was reminded how close every game was. Probably the most stressful I've ever been as a spurs fan.
