San Antonio Spurs’ foreign prospect, forward Erazem Lorbek, is looking to finally join Spurs.According to Sportando, Lorbek is training hard to have a shot at joining San Antonio soon after recently departing (http://www.sportando.com/en/europe/spain/132803/fc-barcelona-erazem-lorbek-part-ways.html) FC Barcelona this year.

“I’m training well and want to come back stronger than before,” said Lorbek the Spanish magazine Gigantes basket. “I just want a chance, if it is possible with the Spurs.”
Lorbek isn’t a spring chicken. He is 30 years old and has career averages of 9.1 points, 4 rebounds, and 52 percent shooting. He also has spurned the Spurs numerous times (http://www.as.com/baloncesto/articulo/lorbek-firma-regal-fc-barcelona/dasbal/20090818dasdasbal_2/Tes) since San Antonio acquired his rights deciding to sign overseas than making the jump to the NBA.
During the 2011 NBA Draft, the Pacers traded the rights to Lorbek to the Spurs, as part of their trade for George Hill.

What a douchebag. He spurned us 2 years ago in favor of Europe because he wanted to earn more money. But now that his career is in shambles, he comes crying back to us, hoping that we'll take him back? :lol

Rebound numbers are always lower on FIBA than on the NBA.

Poor bastard doesn't even realize he'll never suit up for the silver & black.

Because the bigs are homos tbh

Less playing time, smaller courts=more balanced rebounding, higher FG%=less bricks to rebound.

Spurs are the make a wish foundation of the NBA. Players get opportunities to launch careers here that simply wouldn't get the chance with any other organization.... Ayres, Baynes, De Colo. Haislip, etc. It's not out of the realm of a possibility that he joins in some capacity.

I would waive Error for him, tbh.

We have plenty of bigs, this is not 2011 anymore so FUCK HIM!

Pretty sure Oberto joined the Spurs as a past-his-prime big and made meaningful contributions. Obviously there's not much flexibility with the existing roster, but I wouldn't put it past this FO to legitimately consider it.

Just bc everybody's bitter about him not joining when we wanted/needed him doesn't mean he still can't contribute.

Would you take him over re-signing any of Bonner, Ayres, or Baynes this offseason?

The 30 year old "prospect"? Maybe we can trade Ayres for him, though because Lorbek's not on a team his parents may have to take in Jeff.

Trade his rights. At 30 and not a Euro league star his ship has sailed...

I'd rather get his brother now.

I was about to type a "fuck this guy" type response until I realized Ayres is still on this team. I'd welcome any player to SA if it means I no longer have to see Ayres in a Spurs jersey.

Doesn't matter what I think (Ayres -yes, Baynes/Bonner - no). I was simply saying the Spurs have brought in veterans from overseas several times in the RC/Pop era...even ones that are "old and slow." To dismiss it outright as a possibility is foolish. If the Spurs think he can still play and possibly contribute, I'd be all for bringing him over in spite of the fact that he's 30. More than likely it'll be a camp invite next year if anything though.
