Can you answer this pls :

My 2012 N7 (4.4.4) is rooted , stock firmware and stock recovery

If I check "Survival Mode" in Super SU, can I get the OTA update?

Or should I unroot?

The "survival mode" method worked when I updated OTA to 4.4.4 (incremental update), but 5.0 apparently is bundled with a new bootloader so I don't know how a FULL update to everything would affect it

Thank you pls

I have no idea as I don't root our Nexus, and until Android L starts being sent OTA, I don't think you'll know. From what I read, if they really are updating the bootloader, I would suspect it won't work.

That's what I'm thinking

So I'm guessing I will have to re-lock the bootloader and un-root

Or install a custom recovery and flash an Android L custom ROM

Actually, as per the creator of SuperSU, 5.0 makes it so that you'd have to flash a modified stock kernel to get root access, so regardless of what happens, you're going to lose root in upgrading to Lollipop.

Might as well unroot and ensure you get the OTA with no issues.

Not yet - Google held up the source code because there seems to be a WiFI wakelock bug in the current version of 5.0.

That's right

But apprently visually it's not very close to Lolliopop

The S4 and S5 previews of Lollipop (Touchwiz) respect the L guidelines

how slow is it on that nexus 7?

Omg KK was starting to lag badly (My 2012 N7 was rooted, but everything stock, no performance tweak etc)

It's much much better now; once in a while, I do get a little lag here and there, but that's normal since the device has 1 gig of RAM

Battery life has improved as well
I havent checked if it charges super fast though

Expected around January TBH

Samsung says it's in early 2015, so I'm expecting them to roll it out on December 2015.

Back when I rooted the HTC, I used something but don't remember what exactly

Nothing comes with the system to do that? I want to keep it as stock as possible, so no root.

Flashing the recovery shouldn't wipe the tablet. But unless there's a stock image in zip format I'm not sue how you can flash it to stock.

I'd just wait. Bizarre it's taking so long.

:lol it's funny how lefty thinks his opinion should be taken seriously, after all the apple fanboyism he showed for years, never shutting the hell up about how iOS >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> android, and the moment he got an android, he suddenly says android >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> iOS. And now you have the nerve to claim TW >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> all other android

Had major lagging issues after the OTA update on my Nexus 7 (2012). :bang I was thinking of buying another tablet. I cleared the cache memory and it's running like new. :downspin::hat

Ok, clearing the cash memory worked for a few days and then became slower than a turtle. :lmao Did a factory reset and it's faster than ever. Let's see if this one lasts. :lol

The only issue I've had with Lollipop thus far is at times I get a hanging when first booting up my GPS for turn by turn. It can take 5 minutes for the phone to figure out where I am. Frustrating as that is, the rest of the OS seems to be awesome.

Samshit toned down the Samshit apps in 4.4.4. They removed useless apps like Chaton (seriously, who the fuck uses this app?) If stock Android develops stylus capabilities like Samshit, then buying a huge-ass Nexus device would make sense. But that wouldn't be possible right now; Samshit probably has all the stylus patents backed in their corner. Google would have to think outside the box, like REALLY outside of the box.

I haven't noticed too much difference. It's faster. The card file style feature is nice instead of just tiling when hitting the bottom right button is pretty cool.
