That and it's about maximizing wins with the added advantage of hiding plays/familiarity with a playoff team. ATL was the best chance at winning when you take ego out of it. Spurs don't have an ego of that nature, to them, they want close to 60 wins if they can get them and you have to be strategic if your goal is wins with resting and not sending a message.

I also think this was reactionary some to Tiago and Beli's injuries. Without our full team anyways, no need to rush/take risk. If everyone were healthy, I bet Pop would have considered playing them.
