Don't think it's even close between Gasol and Howard.

bigs with fat and size usually match up well against DH imho. DH might be a better player but in a head2head matchup I'd rather choose Gasol tbh.

Y'all underrate Gasol an awful lot. I won't say he's better than Dwight, but he is more skilled and has much higher IQ on both ends. If I need a center to be a superstar player I'll take Dwight, but if I need a center to play his role and a system well (which is what most teams need these days) I'll take Gasol 10/10

For instance swap Gasol with Dwight on the Lakers a couple years ago, and the Lakers probably win it all in 2012.

Better defender, not a mental midget

yeah, defensively especially Gasol is very underrated, which is weird for a former DPOY...

it's hard to gauge a guy after a 6 game sample size. cousins seems greatly improved so far but i don't think you can go by just 6 games.

if we're basing it off last season then it's

dwight
gasol
cousins

now if we go off of these 6 games then it's probably dwight and cousins are a wash

People ranking Cousins low haven't been paying attention in a while. He's been steadily gaining a lot of maturity over the past two seasons. In fact, he'd probably be #1 in my MVP rankings right now.

Dude has improved from a headcase to a pretty good teammate. Great to see.

Even if he becomes the best teammate ever he still doesn't play defense.

You're wrong. And you haven't been watching Kings games.

Cousins on the court is a 21 point difference in defensive rating for the team.

I'll wait until the season is over to put Cousins up there.

Cousins and Howard are always in foul trouble. Gasol play terrific defense and can stay on the court the whole game.

Idk, Cousins has matured a lot. Big change happened around the turn of the new year last season.

First of all: you mean 2013.
Second: :lmao:lmao:lmao Please explain me how swapping Gasol for Howard would make that train wreck that was the Lakers go from getting swept in the first round to NBA champions?

Howard and his poor attitude was a huge part of the train wreck.

Get rid of that, and things look a lot different on the team. Kobe, Pau, and Marc? Hm, kinda similar to a trio that won back to back championships, only Marc >>> Bynum. So it's not exactly difficult to think that they would have had much more success in the playoffs than they had. Perhaps winning it all is a bit of an exaggeration as Miami would still have been tough to beat, but point is, they would have been far superior.

You do rember that Kobe was injury for the playoffs do you? Nash too. And Howard wasn't the main guy, those guys just didn't mash toghether. D'antoni style didn't help either. They would have been more or less the same mess with Gasol instead of Howard.

I won't deny that my wording of the initial post was poorly chosen, as it didn't account for the injuries, but fact is, healthy or not, that team was going to flame out early, because as you said, they didn't mesh together, and a large part of it was Howard and his general lack of skill/versatility. They would be a much more well built squad with Gasol as opposed to Howard.
