Just a comparison that I thought would be interesting to update once a week since Kobe's FG% and shot attempts are always an issue for the select few...and it's always fun to compare Kobe to a couple of superstars in their prime....

As of 11/11/2014

Kobe Bryant: 39%

James Harden: 39%

Lebron James: 44%

Carmelo Anthony: 38%

Derrick Rose: 45%

Westbrook: 41%

Now after looking at this list...I think it doesn't look so bad for Kobe...just saying. There is only one player on this list that is not in their prime...BTW. And I'd argue Kobe has less talent around him than all these guys...and the Lakers have had the toughest schedule out of all these guys as well.

I'm surprised D. Rose has the highest FG% out of the bunch with the ankle issues and what not.

I don't think there's any justifying of his 39% FG percentage. It needs to get better, bottom line.

The guy is shooting better than Carmelo and equal to Harden who are in their prime after coming off a torn Achilles....

Just putting that into perspective.

I lasted like 15 posts before they banned me for saying Dwight might be right bc Kobe gets no blame, while his 'sorry ass team' gets the fans wrath despite having a higher collective FG% than Kirby.

He's basically Wizards MJ at this point. Doesn't really matter anymore, no one is going to take these finals seasons into account when they look at his legacy so why not, just go out and do whatever you want Kobe.

He's a Wizards Jordan with a much worse shot selection.

Jordan's always been a more of a strategic shooter while Kobe's always been sort of unconscious.

Wizards MJ was even less efficient than Kobe actually

According to whom?
Kobe is shooting less than 40% today.

Wizards Jordan shot 42% in 60 games in 2001 and 44.5% in 2002.

Ya but if you watched those games teams didn't put their best defenders against MJ out of respect. It's different with Kobe where teams actually plan their defensive schemes specifically to stop Kobe. And their putting their best defenders on Kobe: Tony Allen, Klay Thompson, Igodaula...etc.

Kobe is seeing doubles in the post..and is guarded well beyond the three point line if you've been watching the games. It's apples to oranges comparison. 36yo Kobe is easily a top 10 player today and is far superior than Wizards MJ.

You're right... You can't compare a 36yo Kobe to a 38-40yo Jordan coming out of 3 years retirement and was still putting up more efficient numbers than Kobe now.. If you want to compare age. At 36yo, Jordan retired as a Champion and Finals MVP.

NO! Kobe is not a top 10 player today. His PPG numbers only looks good because he's shot jacking himself to that PPG average. But his shooting percentage is horrible. Ever heard of the term, someone has to score for a bad team? Also, ever thought this is the reason why no players wanted to play with Kobe?

What are you talking about? Jordan played against and was guarded by some of the best defensive players during his time with the Wizards... Ron Artest, Bruce Bowen, Doug Christie, Kobe, Richard Jefferson, T-Mac, Shawn Marion, Sprewell and many more.

Lol, you must be young. Prime Kobe didn't guard MJ on the wizards. Maybe on 1 or two plays when there was a switch...but Kobe didn't guard Wizards MJ and it was probably more out of respect than anything. And Wizards MJ sure as heck didn't guard prime Kobe.

Yes that's Kobe scoring 42 in the half with Shaq on his team.

Another gem from that faggot Jeggs. I think he might be a mod too. :rollin

His % should be much better considering the Lakers are into junk minutes by halftime.

And some people say 90's players and prior to that wouldn't stand a chance in today's NBA :lol

When you think about some of the players that are considered stars in today's game, i don't think so. Not only they shoot low percentages but their defense is inexistent and they're also extremely ref-reliant. Don't see what exactly makes them better than players from older eras.

90's players, sure. David Robinson, pre-obese Shaq, Hakeem are still the most well rounded and athletic 7 footers I've ever seen. Jordan would probably be even greater in this era given how wing centric the rule changes have made the game. Same with Pippen and some of the other top wings of the early-mid 90's.

What likely wouldn't stand a chance are 90's teams. Those iso offenses would be too predictable, and defense back then relied more on brute physicality than fundamental positioning and team scheming. Even Rick Carlisle has stated that defenses are too sophisticated these days to run iso-oriented offenses.

not to say Kobe's supporting cast ain't even comparable to what LBJ/Harden have. Give the Lockets Kobe and they would probably ring immediately tbh.
