Come on now, where are those tennis fans! The Last grand slam of the year starts today!!!! Call Your predictions. I believe the mens final will be Federer vs. Agassi. I think Andre will win it.

agassi seems to have lost a step. i would like for him to win it but i think roddick has a good chance as well. i just can't pick federer. he is awsome but i just don't like guy. i guess that is as good as a reason as any not to cheer for him. :spin

Be realistic now..

Agassi won't win it.

I think the final will be between Federer and Nadal and Federer will win a close match.

Murphy
08-28-2005, 02:22 PM
Yeah, agassi has made a good comeback this year but you'all are right, Nadal, Roddick, or Federer have more realistic chances of winning it.

Horry For 3!

I rarely watch Tennis but my guess would be Federer to win it all.

mavsfan1000

I would have to say Federer is the favorite even though I hate him. I think Nadal has the best chance of knocking him off though. Roddick has no chance in beating Federer though because Federer owns Roddick.

Hard surface sucks, how long until the clay season comes back?

And no, this has nothing to do with Argentinean players being claycourters :lol

Seriously, can anyone stop Federer? Certainly not Andy Roddick, poor guy I feel sorry for him, he keeps losing with the Swiss again and again.

If Federer is eliminated in an early stage for some strange reason, then my money would be on Safin (if his head is ok). Underdog bets: Nadal, Nalbandian, Chela.

So true.

I don't see how anyone could think that anyone but Federer is going to win it at this point. Unless he tanks it, like the Olympics.

I agree that clay court season is more fun to watch. I loved the way Nadal destroyed everyone on that surface.

Roger Federer will win the mens draw there's nobody that could possibly challenge him this point..unless you get Sampras in his prime out there again, Roddick is his bitch and can never beat him.

mavsfan1000

Nadal beat Federer the last time they played and should've beaten the time before that. He was up 2 sets to Federer but Federer wore Nadal down.

Federer all the way...

mavsfan1000
08-29-2005, 12:35 PM
It's either Federer or Nadal. Roddick isn't as good as he was last year at this time so I wouldn't give him the same chance as those 2.

mavsfan1000
08-29-2005, 12:37 PM
No it doesn't. It is the only thing I am interested in at this time of the year. I don't care too much for football and baseball sucks so tennis is the best option. :pctoss

I have to agree, but Agassi has lost alot of power compare to the newer players, believe me I LOVE Agassi always have, but Federer does have superior swings, certainly his serve, Agassi has lost that and sadly I think he will lose the whole shabang. I HOPE Roddick doesnt win, the man has skill yes but he leans way to much on certain swings not his whole game.

Federer might pull it out, he has stepped up. but Nadal has a well rounded game all of a sudden.

NiNi

Clijsters is definitely the favorite on the women's side. She made Henin look like a child . If she keeps up the great play, she's the one to beat.
she has a great opportunity to win the us open, but take into it also that some of the other players havent played much...sharapova, davenport, the williams sisters....

roddick actually has a good chance of winning the us open, just not if roger's still in it

beating hewitt deff is a confidence boost, but he should avoid the serve and volley approach against roger

instead he should focus on serving over 135 but place it all over the box, and attack the federer backhand w/ a kick serve, and keep attacking that backhand, and then go to his forehand every so often

roddick deff has the weapons to win the us open, he just needs to figure out how to think before he plays the big points

I predict Nadal will beat Federer. That might be a shocker but I think Nadal's baseline game is incredible. Nobody beats Nadal from the baseline. You have to attack him and even than he is the fastest player out there to get it. The only advantage Federer has over Nadal is the serve which could be a big advantage if Federer beats Nadal.

yea i agree, Clijester is who i want to take it. she has amazing skill, if you read what i wrote on the first page. All I am worried about is she chokes. she has not won major titles like davenport.

Serena and Venus are out of shape, they hafvent played as many tounies as they usually do. getting a little big headed i guess. To busy with their new "reality' show. GAY

mavsfan1000

He lost? I figured it was a lock he would win. He has been a disappointed ever since last years US Open. The guy is lazy and I noticed that before now. Brad Gilbert got him motivated but he got on Roddick's nerves after a while. Gilbert is the best coach and Roddick fired him. That shows Roddick's dedication to being the best. It isn't there.

It is more then a fun game it is strategic, entertaining, you have to know your opponents game, your own game, you have to know so much to be where they are right now. The more you watch it, certainly if you played the game alot, you start to respect it cause of what all goes into it. It is amazing

So far the Sanguinetti vs. Srichaphan was the game of the tournament, and maybe of the year. 5 sets, 3 tiebreaks, 4 hours 20 minutes of play, and both players giving their best, what a match.

What a dissapointment. Serena was injured, you could tell her game was wayyy outta whack. I still slightly believe in the theory of Venus and Serena drawing straws to see who wins which major tournament.

Venus was dominating Serena. I do like Serena more, but she realy hs not played that much at all, becaue she has been injured. so, serena took advantage of that. if you were in the us open wouldnt you do the same?

if it wouldnt have been venus it would have just been someone else.

I miss Martina too!!! She was a bad ass! She was my favorite women's tennis player ever. I'll tell you who I can't stand are those SheMEN Venus and Serena. I think Serena should play in the men's circuit, her body is about as close as you can come to a guy's. I feel bad for Taylor Dent. Poor guy is 0-8 with top seeded players. I say Federer and Sharapova come away with wins for the title. GO MARIA!

damn Clijsters has improved over the past 3 or so years. she fucking RULED venus tonight. Perhaps the gap between the Williams sisters and the World is closing. Just wait til my girl Serena gets back to 100% though.

... its not that clijsters has improved or anything... the girl was number 1 in the world several years ago. she has just been really unlucky with injuries and stuff

the tennis world needs her...

NiNi

clijester is awesome, she is in the top 10 of the world and she doesnt have a grand slam under her belt. it is her time to shine, she deserves it. Venus wasnt up to her game either, they havent barely played this year.

clijester vs sharapova is going to be an amazing match. two women who, this year alone, have mastered their talent. Clijester, I believe, will take it. She is in top-shape, so is Sharapova, but did ya'll see the flexibility and dedication in todays game it was amazing.

rankings aside, i've seen her injury less get rocked in some tournaments...im not a very astute tennis fan so i couldn't tell you which year/tournament, but i used to watch for like 2 or 3 years straight, and have only been watching results for hte past year and a half or so

That was definetly one of the best matches I have ever seen. It reminded me of tennis back in the day when you had guys like Connors,McEnroe,Lendel,Borg,Becker etc etc. You used to see great compelling matchups all the time, where as now there doesn't seem to be that great level of competition.
