As a kid I loved to hang out at the library, lucky to have lived in walking distance. Never felt better than when surrounded by books. Right here on the computer desk...
Best of Country Music
The Art of Rock & Roll
The Boxing Register
The Roots & Rhythm Guide to Rock
History of World Art
POE (complete Edgar Allan Poe)
The National Football League Encyclopedia
The World Atlas
The Book Book (history of the...book)
5087 Trivia Questions Answers
whatever you say I am...eminem
Peter Camenzind....Hermann Hesse
Incredible Football Facts
Black American Sports Heros
Who is Who In Track & Field
War and Peace.....Leo Tolstoy
Out in my Fortress of Solitude over 10,000 books, everything from the great western authors like Louis L' Amour, Zane Grey, Luke Short to the sci fi legends Robert Heinlien, H.G.Wells, Isacc Asimov etc. I could find what I want in the dark, yep, just like a library because it more or less is just that.
Other than a half dozen books on them blues and about a dozen classics by Dickens, Scott and Hemingway I accumulated all the books at thrift shops/yard sales. Have..."how much for all your books"....many times.
A few real gems...
To Be A Slave...Julius Lester, here we have a collection of letters written by slaves, yep...some could read and write.
The complete Conan saga by Robert E. Howard, all 11 books.
The Country Blues....Samuel Charters, the first book written about the music (1959)
The Lurking Fear ....H.P.Lovecraft, a first edition in mint condition.
ENDZONE...Don Delillo...SI has called this book the best fictional book ever written about college football. The story of the first black player (Taft Robinson) at a small west Texas school and how his speed dazzled everyone, we read...."that black gift".
So what books can you see from where you are sitting?
Sounds good with your morning coffee....

How many people actually give a shit about what the slaves could do and not do? Who can talk about the slave who became a ruler of a nation?

"Pass"
here I sit
on my ass
I opened this thread
think I'll pass
I don't read
many books
prefer old movies
with cops and crooks
I like it simple
it's easy on my mind
trying to read a book
takes too much time
so here I sit
staring at a computer screen
I'm sure all of you
know what I mean

From where I'm sitting I can see my dvds, my Martin hanging on the wall, a Dali print, framed Bob Dylan/Patti Smith concert poster, a crate full of vinyl..
If I turn my head slightly to my right, I see a mirror (damn, I'm a handsome devil), my Fender Blues Deluxe, framed Frank Black concert poster, drum set, a small bookshelf with my art portfolios, songbooks and the few comics that I've decided to hold onto. If I turn my head slightly more to the right, my neck hurts.

I can see you like to surround yourself with cool.
What I wouldn't give to have my old comics back. I got around 16 and trying to prove I'm no kid sold all my comics....STOO-PEED! Had about a 1000 of them, the very first.... Fantastic Four... was one.

I have around 20ish books on Islam/Middle East. I got curious about all that after 911, so I set out to educate myself.
It doesn't take very long to figure out what the problem is............relgion and not much else to do. Those people aren't waiting to see who are the current top 4 in NCAA football, they aren't posting about Classic Rock on an internet site. They don't have enought interests going on.
And....there is no such thing as Radical Islam, but we do have moderate Islam. Islam is all about violence to those dreaded infidels, that is Islam, world dominance.

to the contrary, being in the same school from k-12 had some good along with the bad. most of my friends from school are like brothers to me since i've known them so long. for most of them, my memories don't go back far enough to a time where i didn't know them. of course it also meant if there was some jerk i didnt care for, i had to put up with him for 10+ years.
but the small community thing wears on you a bit. that's why i always appreciated my public university experience and working through school, just to get into contact with all sorts of different people.
i don't see why you are trying to make a character judgment of me based on having gone to a christian school

spurrraider21, I posted a thread long ago about how wrong it was to put young servicemen in that fuck upped situation over there, ok? How it bugged me years later when I found out about the sex slavery thing. Something I knew nothing about as a kid over there. I talked about how the lowest life form on this planet was a sick ass pedo.
Being we have a ton of punk ass kids here who get all excited acting stupid that got totally turned around and what I said totally ignored.....ok?
So don't be just another dumbass kid...ok?

That's not the story I shared here at all, so get it right. Why act like you didn't read what I said about that? So get it right or shut the fuck up about it, got it? I never pulled any liberty in Viet Nam and have said that numerous times so you know nothing about it.
I;m done talking about your school, when ya start acting stupid with....when I was underage....fuck it, that's too weird for me.
