Parker/Leonard/Ginobili are all brickfests
Green is the only one I trust tbh
Even Splitter has shown better clutch free throw shooting then those 3
leonard has been clutch for the FTs this season tho

Manu has turned in to Mr. Splits when shooting FT's in the clutch tbh. I used to have all the confidence in him.

I'd put Patty up there, too, once he comes back.

He's like 45 and he's been playing professionally since he was like 9.

Leonard's decent, tbh.
I don't know what the fuck happened to Manu though. It's an easier bet to say he will miss his free throws than make them nowadays.

Age does affect FT shooting more than one would think. Da Admiral's FT shooting was awesome for a big man throughout his prime but it became awful towards the end of his career.

Beli and Diaw are pretty good tbh

Diaw is a 1/2 guy also
Beli and Patty have never had the chance to be closers
closest Patty got was when Parker was out on the roadtrip but he closed games out with jumpshots not free throws
Leonard is horrible when the playoffs hits

Kawhi 85.2
Manu 82.1

This team needs a Steve Kerr type clutch free throw shooter
Well, danny green would probably get his ball stolen instead of being fouled

That's not true. Tim's free throw % has gone up the older he gets

tired legs, IMO... but the whole team is going through a FT funk right now
I would choose Leonard, dude has been clutch on the FT line ever since 6.

I'm always skeptical about his FT shooting. He actually has a nice career percentage (80%) but he can be streaky from the line (and from 3) during the '13 playoff run his FT % dipped fro 82% to 66%. He missed a ton in the GSW series.
Hopefully he can shoot a career high in attempts and percentage.

I agree with both but then again Mills is so small it can hurt with the in bounding, like when Wall snatched a inbound pass over Mills last season in that 2OT game.
I'd probably still would go with Parker-Ginobili-Green-Leonard and Diaw in a situation where the Spurs are about to be intentionally fouled (with Diaw in-bounding)

It doesn't apply to everyone but it's happened to several players who were great FT shooters when they were young.

Yup same view. But its good this season so far. Knowing Leonard, he probably went back to practise 10000shots a day after the 2013 miss

LOL why did you have to go ruin it with Splitter in there? Leonard has been good lately tbh from what I have seen. Ginobili will do his annual one miss though usually at the end of games now, he used to be our go to guy and was ice from that line late in games but now he will surely miss one and it sucks. Parker is up and down.

YEP, always one of two, you can just count it before it leaves his hand.

Both him and Parker. I dont want any of those 2 anywhere near the FT line in clutch time.

Parker was 4 on 4 in the fourth and hit a pair giving 3 pts lead 1'30 to the end
on this game going at him for last pair would have been the right choice vs. Manu imo

We always suck at free throws, but I never felt any fear when Splitter, Diaw, and Beli were at the line in the clutch of the playoff run last year...
I don't know about Green, he has blown many clutch opportunities in the past for us, but I would trust him over Leonard at the line any day. It really seems like Danny is at his best when we expect the least from him.
I haven't given up on Manu's clutch factor yet, yeah he basically lost us game 7 last year, but he also won us the Golden State series and the OKC series.

I wonder if Manu's 4th quarter FT% over last couple of years is statistically significantly worse compared w first 3 quarters. Seems like he splits about half the time in the 4th. always a huge relief when he hits both. When TP takes his time at the line he is money. I really hope the team works on their FT shooting more. Huge part of the game.

Player will miss freebies, just the way it is. Last season, statistically our top 3 FT shooters were (with FTA > 30 to remove small samples):
Patty: .89
Manu: .85
Marco: .84
So, yeah, when you wonder why Pop still goes to Gino, he's just playing the numbers.

Yes I was thinking Tim would go 1/2 and MANU surely would go 1/2 and then the other team goes and hits a three. Danny sinks both and the other team hits a three and you are still up 2 after that, then he calmly sinks two again to put them back up 4. The other team hits a three after 1-2 with the others and only down one, then they foul and whoever on our team splits again and then they hit a two to tie it and go to OT as it seems on QUE. Danny hitting those was huge, not one miss and ended it.

Even Patty coming back is a good option now... Danny was solid last night
Manu was quoted in the local paper as saying that 'I am shooting poorly and he (Danny) is shooting 80 something. It's not a macho thing. It's whoever is in the best situation to make those free throws, so it was great that he got the ball and made them tonight'. I don't think that anyone was surprised at that. The paper also noted that Manu's errant pass in a recent end-of-game turnover reflected an attempt by Manu to get the ball to Green, assuming that whoever got the ball was going to be fouled. Instead, the ball was picked off and the other team scored against us in another of our last second losses.
Nonetheless, it reinforces the reality that virtually everyone is recognizing Danny's role as the best free throw shooter now, including in crunch time.
Green had a terrific all around game last night.
