You're No Good is the worst one, but I don't like that song to begin with. I do like their Pretty Woman (especially with the Intruder opening). Also, You Really Got Me is fantastic and Where Have All The Good Times Gone, and Dancing In The Street are very good.

Really underrated. One of the best rock bands of the 70s. Didn't last very long though.

I always forget about them. We used to play 10 from 6 all the time. That just might be my T'giving traveling music. I never did really go back and check out their full albums though.

Good point. Moore had a great voice as well. They had both sides covered. But Emmett hitting those high notes was something. Lay it on the Line is an all time favorite.

I disagree. The original sounds too pussified IMO. Too much sax and the vocals sound lame. Original also really doesn't get your head bobbing like Metallica's version imo.

"Turn the Page" is a super emo song to begin with (boo-hoo success makes me travel to get millions), but Metallica's endless whining makes their version worse. The sax on Seger's version is iconic and it's one of his few songs that doesn't wax nostalgic about teen pussy.

Meh. I might be biased because I hate the RHCP, but I think they drain all the funk, soul and groove out of that song. I don't dig the shouty vocals either. It just doesn't come close to being as good as the original.

I like the foo fighters version of "baker street" though I will acquiesce that the sax in the original is awesome.

As far as Metallica's turn the page, I can see both sides, but I wouldn't say that Seger is pussified, but I think that it's a part of the production process in newer songs. They sound fuller.

It's not lamenting the life of a singer. It's explaining that it's not all glory. I suppose "Hurt" is emo as well, boo hoo Cash crying over a lifetime of drugs, pussy and fame.. so tragic.

That's a good example of how a singer changes the interpretation of a song. When Reznor sings hurt he comes off as an emo, whiny, rich rock star, when Cash sings it, you hear a man on his deathbed, full of regret and penance. It's incredibly powerful and moving.
