You know it's coming...:lol

If the spurs finish atop the west, someone going to be the Token Spurs MVP candidate...

In the last 10 games.

Kawhi Leonard 15 Points 8 rebounds
Tony Parker 16 points a game
Tim Duncan 13 and 11..

No spurs player deserves to be in it, but we know someone's going to make it to the top 10 if they finish with the best record. :lol:lol

Spurs had the best record in the league last year and no one on the team finished top 10 in MVP voting. Funnily enough, Duncan and Parker both tied for 12th.

Honestly nobody on this squad will even sniff top 5 in MVP voting, tbh. And I think we finish between the 2-4 spots in the West.

Kawhi has a chance tbh, he's carrying a lot of hype from his Final's performance. But say he produces his usual RS numbers then TP will take it from him.

Danny Green of course. Statistically speaking, he's having his best season. Oh, and he shut down curry two years ago in the playoffs. He's got it on lockdown.

In order for anyone on the Spurs team to be a candidate for the MVP, the team would have to completely reverse its current team-first offense. And if they do that, more than likely the Spurs won't win enough games to have anyone be an MVP candidate. They will continue to win on a team-first basis.

IMO, no one.

Of course no one should, but media would dare not to. Best team in the league and not one player as an MVP candidate? They would try to force someone in from our team for sure imo.

i would put this in the Kawhi thread tracker, but Kawhi ins't going to be an MVP candidate, so this thread isn't about him

Refer to my previous post. We were the best team in the league last year and still had no one in the top 10 of MVP voting.

It's all about influence and what people think and see you as. That was before one of the greatest displays of basketball happened. We'll see this season if that has a big impact on the voting.

Kawhi won't put up MVP numbers until Pop leaves

The entire playoffs we got praised for our team basketball. Surprisingly enough, the media didn't try latching onto one guy as the "main guy". They just respected us for what we were/are and continued to talk about our unselfish way of playing.

I see what y'all are saying. The media does have a nasty habit of trying to attribute a team's success to an individual. But IMO, the Spurs have made themselves the exception...which really speaks to just how unselfish and team-oriented we were.

Actually, I like many others would love it if there will be no mvp candidates for us. That just makes the team look even better. :lol

If the spurs finish atop the west,

that's a huge IF

I'm gonna go ahead and say that's not gonna happen. spurs have been playing very well and barely sniff 5th spot

waste of time to think about this cause probability of Spurs finishing #1 is probably 10%

Team ball only hurts Tim/Tony/Kawhi's legacies.

Kobe/Dirk/KG/Lebron/Davis Stans have always used the "Tim only has his accomplishments because he has help waaaaaah waaaaaaaaaah"

CP3/Curry/Rondo/Rose Stans use the same argument towards Parker...

George/Durant/Melo Stans use this argument towards Kawhi too, "oh he's a product of a system. He doesn't have to carry like our idols do"

Shit. They even use that retarded argument on Pop :lol

The Spurs are the exception and they have great chemistry. However, the spurs don't have any MVP players on their roster. Tony Parker is as close as it gets but, he can't even carry the Spurs anymore. It's better that way because if they were relying to heavily on one player, they wouldn't be nearly as successful.

The better question is will they get more than one guy on All NBA teams. We all know they'll get at least one token rep.

Guard has Curry, Paul, Harden as locks, so three more slots available. Lowry will probably get one and others like Wall may depending on where their teams finish (potentially Lillard too). That likely leaves one guard slot and we'll see how impactful Westbrook is in 60 games.

Forward/center has Lebron, Davis, Aldidge, Gasol and probably Bosh as locks. Dirk probably gets token Dallas spot and depending on how his team fares, Cousins and Al Jefferson could be too (Jefferson not unless the Hornets improve dramatically). Melo is probably out given how the Knicks are playing and Durant is in the same boat as Westbrook. Bulls will also get a token slot for Butler or Noah despite mediocre paper stats.

I wouldn't be surprised if Duncan gets a center slot and depending on how other positions shake out, Parker or Kawhi grab one too. Would be great to see two guys on the two All Defensive teams - Kawhi plus Green or Duncan.

Dunno about the MVP but Parker would probably make it to the all-star game without deserving it like last year, tbh.
