Looks like Westbrook will return Friday and Durant soon after. They're 4-12 and have played the 8th hardest SOS in the league. Assuming 50 wins gets you in, they need to go 46/20 which is a 70% clip. Last year they won 59 games for a 72% winning percentage. Given the team got worse losing Martin, but their bench got some experience the first 1/5th of the season, it looks like it's going to be close.
I think they'll grab the 7 or 8 seed if both Alpha and Beta stay healthy the rest of the way.

Yes, as long as some white cop doesn't kill Westbrook for doing this:

I'm gonna reserve judgement until I see how they look like on the court. Are they coming back because they're healed or because of the urgency?

According to Brooks they won't play until "100%" ready. Take that for what it is...

Ethiopian and Chimp are already practicing.
there's 100% chance they'll make the playoffs. there's also 25% chance they'll take the #1 or #2 seed to 7 games.

Players can talk their way into the court. I think they're aware of the pressure situation you described in the OP and they're going to give it a shot. If it doesn't work out, their best course of action is to shut it down and get in the lottery.

Given how loaded the west is, there's no way you can say they're a lock. And that's assuming they both stay healthy and come back in rhythm and winning games.

Westbrook will come back too soon, suffer a setback and they'll miss the playoffs because of it

based on how he treated Ibaka last year, and how the team had Westchimp remove his meniscus instead of repairing it, i think its clear they're just milking these guys rather than actually being concerned with their health. they'll be back asap

Doubt it. Westchimp and Durant are gonna need a few weeks to play themselves into shape so they're prolly gonna lose another 5 or so games before they start playing well.

If they move to the east conference they could still be battling for home court in the playoffs.

Either Durant, Westbrook or Ibaka will get hurt again this year.
Brooks ran them to the ground for a few years straight, with ISO plays that puts a lot of strain on the body, it's just a matter of time injuries start to happen.
I say they will miss the playoffs.
