Yep, it seems like he gives him more trouble than any other SF in the league, tbh..

Even when he misses against him, the looks are good..

He's bigger and stronger and Kawhi's length doesn't bother him..also, virtually all of his offense is in the mid-range, which the Spurs gladly give up, too..

The space he would create against Leonard was mainly due to his strength. He got away with a few push offs today.

This case must go to the international court of justice of The Hague ASAP.

He's trouble for anyone. Crazy long arms strong, fast he can shoot. No one can stop him but kawhi more than holds his own.

Don't worry, the best defender against Gay in the playoffs is Gay.

To the extant that it's true, they'll only play two more times this season and then Gay will be watching the playoffs from his living room. At any rate, 'consistently schooled' overstates the situation:

Most of the time Kawhi excels against players slightly smaller than himself. Then Kawhis length, quickness and awareness is a frightening combination. But Gay is taller I guess and still very quick. Still, I think right now Gay is just in a roll against anybody but he likely will shoot himself out of it sooner than later ...

Kawhi looked off on the defensive end last night. At one point the camera showed him massaging his knee area. I wonder if it was bothering him last night. We all know kawhi by now, and he could've been way more aggressive on D.

Yeah, I too was perplexed by the OP... given that I remember Gay having to take many shots to get his points any time they've played against each other...

In other words, the same effect Bowen had on Kobe...

Kawhi needs to play him straight up, and not go for on the ball steals. Gay has extremely long arms, and with his rip-through move, if Kawhi reaches, he's off balance, and Gay has already started his move.

Leonard actually schooled Gay while he was in Memphis and Toronto
even held him to 1 point before

Gay shoots 40% and 19% from 3 against Kawhi with 2.5 TOs per.

Spurs will take that every day of the week.

Ditka couldn't have stopped Rudy Gay last night. He was just hitting tough shots. That's just what he does though. Hitting just enough contested 2PT shots to get ~20 pts on 15 attempts is the 'Rudy Gay Special'. Even when DMC is out and they need him to carry the load, you know he's gonna put up ~20 on 15 shots and chill. The Rudy Gay paradox; ironically, exactly what Memphis needs as a third option to put them over the top.

I bet Memphis regrets giving up Gay right now. :lol They'd be a surefire contender with him on board.

They had to dump his salary. One of Randolph, Conley, or Gay had to go. Otherwise they would be way over the tax line this year and they wouldn't be perfectly positioned to retain Gasol next summer.

Gay would have been good for them...at the right price. He wanted MAX money though, and the two times they made the WCFs, he was either injured, or had just been traded.

Actually, they had already given him MAX money. That's a major reason why they traded him.

Sean ****** said it best..

Kawhi has improved so much in the last 3 years that gay is basically shitstain for him..But his first three years, it was difficult to guard him.

Kawhi is not only improving in the offensive end but also from the defensive end...And people thought We have seen his peak :lmao
