certainly looks like traveling, but then again, it's no different than how players always kill their dribble, take two steps, and then finish with a layup, only this was a fade-away. Is there a reason those aren't called travels, but for some reason this one is? It's the exact same thing... two steps after a killed dribble.

That's a "travel," but they're not calling that at the buzzer. Hell, I'm not convinced they'd call it a lot of times. There are probably 40-50 plays every NBA game that are travels if you call it by the book.

Floyd Pacquiao
12-04-2014, 12:10 AM
:lol why wouldn't they call it? A travel is a travel. Especially at a crucial moment in the game.

Great shot by Monta tbh.

BTW good to see the Mavs fans back. Took them over 3 years to return from their championship hangover.

I don't really see the travel. 2 steps off the dribble then jumpshot

Are you allowed to take two steps after you establish a pivot and do a spin move? If you are I don't think that's a travel.

I told Spurfans years ago this dude would thrive under a good, winning system. As expected most hated the idea and thought he was 'too selfish' to be a winner.

It was a travel. You cannot take two steps off a pivot foot. Otherwise the up and under would be pointless, just take two steps and you're home free.

Im on both sides here. I get why Spurs fans thought that, he was a chucker and very inefficient a poor man's Kobe tbh with a quicker first step. But like you I thought with the right coach and system he could be really good. He actually played even better last night vs. the Bulls.

As for Mavs like I said:

1. Dirk/Ellis pnr come playoff time will be filthy.
2. Never should have let Tyson walk. Sure, he is not as good as when he left but his defense helps Dirk so much. he even takes on big PF like Pau, Zbo freeing dirk to board.
3. I dont love their bench but they have some pieces JJB and Wright are serviceable.
4. Never loved Aminu but RC will get the most out of him.
5. They lack another wing defender and it may be their downfall in May/June

Pop and Rc are playing chess while every other coach is playing checkers. I cant wait to see another 7 rounder between the two. And Spur fan that dismisses the Mavs chances are lying to themselves. Obviusly spurs will be favored but Mavs would be a REAL problem and threat to the repeat.

Fans of the game who seek the competition seem oblivious to the fact that the owners seek profit, competition is just a product they have the ability to offer a waning fanbase.

I'm don't think he took two steps off the pivot. It looked like he picked the ball up and took two steps then shot, but the first step included a spin move. I can't post gifs but it is in the link.
