Without the best defensive big, and MVPatty.

The spurs beat Golden state on back to back after beating the clippers.

Beating the Grizz with Leonard and Tim combining for 23 points.

NBA :lol

50% spurs team beating 100% teams like Memphis, Golden State, clippers.

I don't know. One broken ankle to Duncan here or a torn ACL from Manu there, and it's all over, so it's best not to get too complacent. But yeah, the Spurs definitely look like the class of the NBA right now.

Fortunately for us, the 2 worst matchups for us (Houston and OKC) have the 2 worst coaches among western playoff teams. I wouldn't be shocked if we struggle against them in the regular season where you don't gameplan as much, but I like our odds in the playoffs because of Pop

Excluding the Thunder, Golden State are the scariest team in the Western Conference. I don't think they can win a title yet, but they have an offence that can get hot and beat anyone 4 times out of 7.

Spurs fan logic.
If spurs lose a regular season game: They are playing us like the nba finals, come playoffs we gonna own the shit out of them. Its still december.
If spurs win a regular season game: We are a bad matchup for them. Theres no way they win us in the playoffs. We are the champions

Right now I would say Houston is the biggest threat in the west.

This, Harden matured a lot, they got rid of Jeremy Lin's inconsistency and Parson's stat padding, replaced with Ariza's defense. They have 8 million left to make a move. This team got significantly better this season. They are missing even more pieces than the Spurs and have a better record.

A low seed OKC can be a devastating first round match-up as well.

Cleveland is putting it together too, they got the raw talents.

One bad injury ruins the season, take this season as a bonus folks. Top two keys for Spurs repeat as always: Health and whether someone can step up for ISO plays. Timmy's heroics got us through OKC game 6. Kwahi completely turned table on LeBron in finals 3, 4 and 5. Spurs rely on team work more than anyone else but sometimes there is no replacement for individual ISO performance.

Only the Spurs can beat themselves, they're by far the best team in the NBA. They were already the favorites bringing back the same roster, but now Cojo/Baynes/Leonard pretty much everybody has stepped up their game. The old guys look like they're in cruise control too, so they won't be gassed for the playoffs.

Hopefully we don't see any hero ball take us to 7 games against subpar teams like the Mavs again.

Yuixafun

Spurs emerged from a 7 year cocoon, transformed into Monarchs.

Every other team is a caterpillar.

Barring injury, no other team can fly with the Spurs.

This will be TOUGH, VERY TOUGH. The title is hard to come by man, if they are healthy they have as good as a shot as anyone but it WILL NOT come easy.

The hardest thing will be winning the West, because it's so stacked. The WCF will be the real Finals, because the WC Champion (hopefully us) will utterly bitchslap the EC Champion in the Finals. 5 games, max.

Last year's team was by far the best team in the league, they're even better this year. This year I just don't see any elite defenses that could stop the Spurs' offense, meanwhile they're playing some of the best defense in years this year, that usually takes them months to do. The Spurs roster last year:

Parker-sprained ankle (although this actually helped the Spurs)
Manu-Fractured leg
Leonard-limited role in the offense
Belli-Non factor
Cojo-Non factor
Baynes-Non factor
Mills-Rotator cuff injury
Assistant coach-Boylen

FF 1 year, Baynes/Cojo are turning into NBA players, Manu/Parker a fully rested off season, Leonard's role has expanded and he's gotten much better, I don't think Belli could be any worse than he was last year, Mills looks like he's in shape and will come back strong in Jan., Spurs are playing elite defense without Splitter, they're winning games and playing like shit on offense. Oh and we added Messina, I really like this guy, much better than having Pop refer to Boylen in crucial moments.

Once things together, the Spurs can easily be better than last year, but it'll take time.

Plus don't they still have cap space? Couldn't they pick up some solid role player mid season? Adding another solid player to this roster, RIP NBA.

The offense still isn't as explosive as last year's. But maybe that's because Mills isn't available.

Duncan has completely lost his mid-range jumper.

HOWEVER,

Parker now seems to have 3-point range.
Ginobili is getting back to form.... but maybe he is peaking too early.
Leonard is developing a Jordon like mid court game. Not great yet, but he's working on it.
Green is more reliable now working off the ball and driving into the lane.
Baynes apparently has a decent mid range jumper.
Bonner is hitting a ridiculous percentage from not only the 3 point line, but his drive in floaters.
Cojo is now playing a more controlled game. His 3 point shot is much improved.

However.. the following players aren't playing as well

Belinelli - out of shape and injured. But he had big game last time.
Diaw - just coasting out there. Still doesn't have a reliable 3 point shot. If he improves on his shot... Spurs win championship. Heck... championship will depend on Diaw performing.

No, not quite. It's more like this...

Spurs Win: We were playing a "scrub" team, so what does it matter anyway?

Spurs Lose: We're fucked. Tim, Manu, and Tony won't score 20+ in a game again. The "popsuckers" need to come do some damage control. We have no chance at another title. Rebuilding is eminent.
