On the serious note, a lot of fans seem to be wanting KJ McDaniels over Kyle.

KJM is a poor fit for the Spurs' offense. I feel those folks are short-sighted. However, I do wish Capela would have fallen just a bit farther.

Pretty sure those people just think Kyle sucks and would be happier if we picked KJ. No thought given to how well he fits with the team.

Yeah. He can rebound, slash and defend. But he isn't spacing the floor right now. I wouldn't have minded the team taking him, but they aren't missing out on anything right now. That's especially true since a much better fit (Jamaal Franklin) is sitting in China waiting for someone to give him another chance in the NBA.

Interesting. Well we always have Chip to pull something out and this team will need a legit Kawhi backup sooner rather than later.

Franklin can defend and rebound, while also being a great passer. He's like Anderson and McDaniels in one body. Can't shoot, though, but I hear that was improving.

So if that dude cant shoot too and McDaniels has what he has then both of them would be bad fits? Although if he's really that great a passer than maybe that puts him better than KJ.

He's a FA, so the Spurs can get him AND Anderson. Also, he was improving his shot last I've heard of him. I think he'd be a better fit next to Mills than McD would.

Or just waive them. I think if the Spurs offered a first, the Rockets would deal him next off-season if they have a chance to acquire a name player. I would rather them have picked up a big instead of Anderson, though. Just seemed like the year that was going to happen.

He was the worst shooting guard at the combine, and his bball IQ is rather low. He's also not really a Spurs kind of guy in the locker room, tbh. That's why the Spurs passed on him. Elite athleticism, but there's a reason he fell to the 2nd round.

Wtf? Did you compare TP to Rondo?

TP has been under Chip and has developed his jumper. It's not within the system that you develop your jumper it's your will to learn. Rondo has been in the league for quite a long time now, you would think that he has already developed a decent jumpshot hell even just freethrows but no. Also Parker is quicker and probably the best pg finisher in the league outside of westbrook.

its funny, i was thinking the other day of starting a thread asking how much better we'd be if we had Korver instead of Marco :lol

he's the best shooter in the league, right there with Curry... and as Chinook pointed out he's an underrated defender. he's also shown some savvy passing this year which came out of nowhere

his defense improved during his Chicago stint, but Bud actually knows how to run an offense. and when Korver is on the floor, you can tell their play is almost always designed to either get him a shot or to have the defense overcompensate to prevent him from getting the ball, opening things up for Teague

Barring pipe-dreams.. some possible Spurs recruits in the next two years could be -

a) Al Horford.. who would be a perfect replacement if Duncan retires. Not the same level as TD, but plays similarly and would be well protected from injuries by the Spurs coaching staff.
b) Amir Johnson.. but for his fouling, he is a perfect big for the Spurs and will be a great complement to Splitter/Baynes.
c) Wesley Matthews.. if ever Danny Green and Belly-nelly bolt for a better contract somewhere.

Teletovic would fit well

Don''t confuse multiple reads and options with improv. Not the same thing. If where the defender is playing dictates whether you dive to the rim or pop out beyond the 3 point line, that's not improv, it's one option on a play.

I honestly think that Batum would have been an all-star if SA had drafted him back in 2008. He is very talented. Great size for a SF, very athletic, good shooter, very good passing skills. He has all the tools to be an elite player in the NBA.

Malik Hairston
12-08-2014, 07:54 PM
- Paul Millsap..range on his jump shot, mobility, plays hard, would fit well next to both Duncan and Splitter
- Demare Carroll..not that talented, but has improved his 3-point shot and looks very solid in the poor man's Spurs system in Atlanta
- Kyle Korver..obvious reasons
- Pero Antic..stretches the floor, plays hard, etc..decent 4th big
- Jimmy Butler/Pau Gasol..both obvious
- Tyson Chandler..could play the Splitter role, his pick&roll finishing looks revitalized in Dallas, and his defensive presence is well known
- Draymond Green..top 3-5 role player in the league, Pop would love him IMO
- Marc Gasol..obvious
- Mike Conley..solid off-ball player, very good defender, team player, doesn't dominate the ball
- Chris Bosh championship version, not the ball dominant Bosh
- Kyle O'Quinn..makes the 3, tough defender, decent 4th big
- Serge Ibaka..surprising choice, he doesn't fit the Spurs style, at all, but I think he would fit very well
- Aldridge..obvious choice
- Wes Matthews..similar to DG
- Batum..obvious choice
- Amir Johnson..good passer, solid defender, team player
