If you look at the top 4 teams who got in, they are ranked in order of their strength of schedule according to these rankings.
The Big 10 was the worst P5 conference by a decent margin, but OSU had a solid OOC schedule compared to both TCU and Baylor.
The margin between TCU and Ohio State is very small on the rankings. TCU is higher due to margin of victories. That's why FSU is all the way down to 10 since they won a ton of close games against mild opponents.

Ohio State would take TCU/Baylor apart and the committee knows that. Yes the Big10 sucks, with OSU being the exception.

I think Ohio St.'s defense would have some trouble with both offenses, but they would put up alot of points as well. It would be relatively high scoring games.

Damn...just looked at Baylor's SOS. Did Boise St. and Southern Miss really play tougher schedules? I just don't believe it....
Seriously, Southern Mississippi???

I'm sorry, but a 10-win team with a top-10 SOS from the 2nd Best Conference with three Top-25 wins, two top-15, 1 top-2 should be in the final top-10, especially over teams with SOSs in the 40+ ranges.
You can't penalize a team for losing in a Title game, especially to your #1.

Boy is that ranking fucked up, to be honest.
They rank a 10-3 Arizona behind a 10-2 ASU, likely because Arizona was good enough to win the South, then pick up a third loss to Oregon.
Problem?
Arizona already beat Oregon/ASU didn't even play them
Arizona beat ASU head2head
Arizona destroyed Utah by 30+ at Utah/ASU barely beat Utah in OT at home
Arizona lost by 10 at UCLA/ASU lost by 30 at home to UCLA
Arizona has a top-10 SOS/ASU does not
Seriously... Is a three-loss Notre Dame win really worth that much?
These rankings suck balls, dude. I wouldn't use them to back shit, let alone actual opinion.

Most teams would have trouble with both of those offenses, and as an Ohio State fan they probably would have trouble with those offenses as well. I still think Ohio State could have outscored both though, especially Baylor. Both are very very good teams though.

Arizona was higher before they got blown out in the Pac-12 Title Game. These numbers are also based on marigin of victory. Losing by almost 40 points is what dropped Arizona in these polls. That's why they got punished. They were higher before the PAc-12 title game. This poll is simply based on a formula using strength of schedule and margin of victory. That's the only formula.

Southern Miss did have both Bama and State on the schedule which elevates it.
Also the bottom of the Big 12 is ranked really low in these polls and add that to the cupcakes Baylor played out of conference, that explains some of it.

That's a stupid simplistic formula with conflicting ideologies.

Trouncing shitty teams by 30+ with a weak SOS should not be worth more than beating good teams home or road (especially road).
