Mortgaged away their future because they thought they could take down Miami :lmao
Swept Miami in the regular season and thought it'd mean something come playoff time :lmao
Got smacked by Miami in the 2nd round even with a $190 million payroll:lmao
Realized they're not doing shit with the current roster so they're trying to get picks back...which they wouldn't have to do if they didn't trade them all in the 1st place:lmao

Billy King is a dumbass.

What the fuck do the Lakers have to give in return? They can be interested all they want.

Mitch seems to think otherwise.

Mitch doesn't have Ronny Lester or Jerry West to prop him up this time.

Lin + Nash (both expiring) + 1st round pick from HOU

Lin + Nash (both expiring) + 1st round pick from HOU

That's a terrible trade for the Lakers, even without including the pick.

Do it, Mitch.

How is that terrible for the Lakers? They are sitting at 5 wins....giving up Lin, nash's corpse and low level first rounder is not too bad. You can Re unite boozer and deron. Maybe they can get to 25 wins.

How is reuniting deron and boozer a good idea in 2014? Deron is on the hook for $60m over the next 3 years. Why would you trade expiring contracts on a team that should be rebuilding?

Patience Med ...this sux the losing but short term gains at expense of the future is not prudent. I actually used to love Dwill and I hate Dwight but the Howard deal made sense even with him bolting this does NOT!

Only interesting piece to me is Brook Lopez, but I don't think I'd trade for him at this point. Best to wait until he hits free agency.

Nah, you don't want Dwill's contract on the books in the summer of 2016. Plus, the earliest first round pick you can get from the Nets is in 2020.

Because they fear rebuild will take them 50 years, like those years post Wilt/West Jabbar/Magic and Shaq/Kobe they were lucky getting Phil Jackson Derek Fisher and that scrub Gasol to squeeze two more championships, but for some reason I think the Lakers will not be a team appealing to players after Kobsy retires, is not attractive right now but in the next years... :deadhorse

Missed that it was Houston's. Thought the pick in question was a Laker pick.

tbh, the real question is why DWill would want to play in that Lakers team...

Does he have a no trade clause? If not he'd probably quit like Nash if he goes to LA.

Imo there are two trade partners for BKY/Dwill:

If they want an actual player back, possibly The pacers: something like Hibbert/Scola for Dwill. It's a risk for IND but there have always been rumors swirling around Hibbert & their defense can cover up for Dwill.

The most likely scenario if they do actually trade is that they simply try to shed money. With the amount of money they can save, they have to seriously consider it. If that's the case than NY is their best bet. They could do Amare/Bargnani/Calderon for Dwill/JJ. That woukd save BKY over 50M not including luxury tax savings. Maybe NY is tired of losing. Maybe they are ok with delaying their cap space opportunity a couple more years. I doubt NY wants to do that since their cap situation improves as early as next year - but the potential is there.

I don't think he does, but I agree he would mail it in...
