Nets: Free Agent Traylor Fails Physical
By Associated Press

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- Free agent forward Robert Traylor failed a physical and will not join the New Jersey Nets this season.

Team president Rod Thorn declined to announce further details Tuesday.

The 28-year-old Traylor became a free agent in June when the Cleveland Cavaliers declined to pick up the option on his $1.76 million contract for the upcoming season.

He averaged 5.5 points and a career-high 4.5 rebounds in 74 games last season as a backup center for the Cavaliers.

The seven-year NBA veteran has averaged 4.8 points and 3.7 rebounds in 438 career games.

I'm thinking either New Jersey has the strictest doctors in the world working for them or Taylor showed up weighing the better part of a ton.

combo of both??

I never understood the fascination behind Traylor my ownself.

Of course the genius that is the Bucks trade Nowitzki for him.

NJ's MDs must be very stringent. SAR has never had a problem with his knees since being in the league and they nixed his deal as well. Rod Thorn is an idiot that gave old balls Kidd too much money (thank GOD!) and is now scared of making the same mistake every time he signs another player.

And this is the team that signed Alonzo Mourning to a multi-year deal?

I guess it helps to be part of a package (when trying to pass the physical).

Whats new? Its the new look Nets. They want all their free agents to be perfectly fit in every way. Why? Cause they have starters who have injury problems. Kidd, Carter, Jefferson. lol. They must be pissing in their pants everytime they see some scars. :lol

Perhaps Traylor has been hanging out with Oliver Miller this summer.

I think this could be great news for the Nets because it allows them a great fan interaction opportunity. At every home game the 100th fan through the gate gets to be the starting PF for the Nets!

They just can't win for losing this summer. I remember when the SAR deal was announced they were all but handed the #4 slot in the east by most fans and experts, some even went so far as to predict a conference championship. Now, well, I still think east is wide open enough that they can sneak in on the bottom half of the bracket somewhere but damn, sucks to be them.

Damn, getting a spot on the Nets is starting to look harder then getting into the Roxbury.

He had dropped quite a bit of weight recently, and played well for Cleveland. I've followed him over the years, just because it was funny to see an actual fat guy play in the NBA :lol

Best of luck to him, I hope he can continue to play in the League.
