View Full Version : So who plays against Portland?

BillMc

Does Pop sit Manu or Timmy against the Guest Team? Does Parker return?

Do Boris, Danny or Baynes finally get a night off? (Though it seems Boris has already taken a few nights off lately. And I say that even though he's one of my favorite Spurs).

I think if Tony returns, Manu sits. Tim will play.

I think TD, Manu & TP will all rest, if we have known Pop to do what he has done all over the years.

Cory, Danny, Kawhi, Diaw, Splitter will start, IMO.

We should not rest all the Big Three in every b2b game ... we have 4 games in 5 nights, so I would rather sit Tim and Manu against Dallas but not tonight. Tony should not play though because he is not healthy ...

It's probably going to be one of those games where Portland blows their load after what happened last year. Sit the old guys down and throw the JV out there to see what happens.

There are two questions: did Pop hold TP out last might so he could play tomorrow, and does Tim go having played last night for 32 minutes? Manu only played 22 minutes last night.

My guess is that Tony and Manu play, Tim sits.

My guess is that Tony and Manu play, Tim sits.

Local paper this morning reports that Tony re-injured his hamstring playing on friday, so he is out tonight against Portland.

So all the folks that believe that we are a better team and play better without Tony in the line-up should be thrilled.

Apparently not. Reports are that he aggravated the existing injury in the game before the Denver game...so he is out tonight and they don't know when he will be back.

Hopefully he'll rest Manu so that the team can decrease those gametime crucial turnovers.

Manu will likely rest. He took a hard fall yesterday and is surely sore from it. Tim probably sits. Not sure what the deal is with TP. Everyone else plays.

The deal is that he reportedly (local paper) re-injured the same hamstring that was already hurt when he tried to play the other night. This is why Pop is always so cautious with injuries. Tony always tries to come back too soon, imo. Not only does it risk re-injury, but he also doesn't play as well. Of course, some folks in here accuse him of being soft if he doesn't play, and then accuse him of being a scrub if he comes back and plays ineffectively with an injury.

Portland will look to extract revenge for this

I expect Pop to throw this one.

it really seems every season at least one of the away games against Portland is a b2b ... no wonder Portland has the second best record against the Spurs all time ...

Duncan plays, Manu plays, Kawahi plays, Tony only plays if he's healthy, and that will be a clean up role to see if he's a-ok or a shitburger like the Laker game.

I'm afraid I see this as a loss looming.

Hope I'm wrong. If it is a blow-out (which wouldn't surprise me), I expect Pop to pull most everyone out.

I agree with LeBron and others. The act of suiting up, warmups and going thru the whole schmear involving a game makes 32/22 virtually the same. It's having the night entirely off for rest -or not- that makes the difference.

Love watching the shorthanded Spurs, tbh..

If Duncan/Ginobili/Parker were playing, this would be the typical Portland, back-to-back, regular season home blowout win IMO, but since they'll probably let their guard down, this could be a close game until the 4th IMO..

Joseph/Green/Leonard should be able to dominate defensively, but the Bonner/Belinelli lineups will be ugly:lol..

Not a racist blast, just nationalist.

Besides Francophobia is literally a cottage industry in annals of American wisecracks , albeit mostly on a sardonic level. But nothing to get one's beret twisted over.

Diaw and Batum are great Spurs imo, irregardless and disrepective of their national origins.

Portland's overrated and the Spurs future's are playing (Green and Leonard). No excuses tonight. Leonard, being the best player on the floor will own the Blazers tonight. He's not one of the best players in the game for nothing. So many Debbie Downers in here, it's depressing.

Ginobili, Splitter added to Spurs' injured list
http://www.foxsports.com/southwest/story/manu-ginobili-tiago-splitter-tony-parker-san-antonio-spurs-injury-injured-list-121514

That includes tonight's game at Portland where Tim Duncan (rest), Manu Ginobili (low back contusion), Tony Parker (hamstring) and Tiago Splitter (calf) will all sit, according to the team.

Robz4000
12-15-2014, 06:38 PM
If Splitter's calf really is acting up again the Spurs need to look around for a defensive bigman. They won't find anyone close to Splitter but at this point something is better than nothing (Errors, Daye).
