If Van Exel finally signed for the veteran minimum and we end up with Finley with the MLE i think we should trade Devin Brown for a future 1st pick and sign with the LLE a player to a contract with a team option in the second year and restricted rights for the 3rd year.
I personally think that signing walter Hermann with the LLE for a contract like the one i mentioned before would be a nice move because as he is playing in europe and not everyone knows him he would be easier to get and to convince to sign a contract like that.
If he finally does badly then we don't use the team option in the second year but if he does good we keep him and in the 3rd year we match any offer.
Besides i think we would be able to give him a 1,2 millons contract for the first year from the LLE with the same value for the second year with the team option.

Hermann is signed up for the season more than likely.
So throw that idea out.
Plus, I think it would take more than 1.8 to lure him out.

Right now he is the best paid player in his team (Malaga) although he only gets $ 0,8 millons per season. Malaga wanted to get rid of him because of this. He didn't adjust well to their system so now they were trying to work some kind of buyout so they could save their salary. I was saying about offering him $ 1,2 millons for the first year so he would even get more money.
Walter had several family issues during the last couple of years so that can be the reason to his late average performances. However, he has the level to be a great player. In athens 2004, as an example, he showed he is capable of big things.

1) Hermann's buyout is too large. His jump to the NBA will come next season.
2) You aren't going to get a first round pick for Devin Brown because teams will be able to sign him with one of their exceptions.

We'd better remember the experience with Kidd, O'neal and Mailman. During waiting for Fin's dicision, we may need to work on alternatives at the same time, so won't pick a contract at the last moment in hurry like Rasho's.

The Spurs don't seem to be missing out on much while they play the Micheal Finley Sweepstakes. Fortunately for us, we already have a Plan B set up in Devin Brown, who seems willing to wait for our decision on Fin before signing any offers from other teams. So if Fin chooses to go play for the Ballhogs....I mean, Heat....then we've got a perfectly good, defensive-minded, fan-favorite small foward lined up to fill the 12th spot on the roster. Not a bad consolation prize, if you ask me.
The remaining spots will most likely be filled with young prospects or veteran fillers, who will all probably receive minimum bids for their contracts. Which means that if we wanted to be signing them now or later, it would be regardless of what and when Finley's decision happens to be.

I think Barnes and Brown should be the last two targets the Spurs go after. I've gotten sick and tired of this Finley bullshit, and after some deep meditation on the issue I think I'd rather have Devin Brown.

As my recall, Rasho was after Kidd's decision. I might be wrong?

Rasho was contacted the first day of free agency. He took a below-market deal so the Spurs could pay Kidd his maximum salary.
