just read san antonio is 2nd behind houston in the number of child abuse/neglect cases. is it a cultural thing or do you think there is something more demonic as to why san antonio is a hub for child abuse?

watching the news it seems like there is always a child who was killed or beat by a family member and it peeked my curiosity.

It's a fair question. I'd like to know the perceived reasons for the high rate of repeated abuse after a kid's case has gone through the system.

yea its weird. these families go through all kids of hurdles to get their kids back and end up abusing them again. i don't know why they're given so many chances.

What are the racial demographics of this epidemic. ..if blacks are leading the %'s....then it's likely because whites just end up killing their kids and families. ...

I can confirm by reading and working with child abuse that SA (and it's region...8) is second in child abuse cases. Being overstaffed and under funded, as well as the culture of dealing with things within the home (I even saw this today with a case) is at fault. Education is important in the numbers dropping. Here is an article that may help with your curiousity or just give you all more fuel to argue about what role being black has in the matter. http://therivardreport.com/child-abuse-a-silent-epidemic-in-bexar-county/ And the article that cited SA as being #2 http://www.mysanantonio.com/news/local/article/CPS-stats-Bexar-County-No-2-in-abuse-neglect-5224476.php

CASA is a ton of work. I ain't got time for that. Starting an organization sounds nice, but there are a ton out there already. If you want some ideas of places to go let me know. I know plenty.

I think it's just the increasing black population in San Antonio tbh..speaking of Houston, a couple of wonderful nigs decided it would be a great idea to give their one year old six shots of vodka..

but back to the topic. i think there are some problems with how san antonio and maybe the state of texas handles child abuse cases. maybe some stiffer penalties and an overhaul of the foster care system is needed.

Both of those are easier said than done. I worked at a foster care agency almost 5 years ago. We talked about "oh my god the changes that are going to happen...' It's 2015 and there haven't been any changes made. Laws have to be passed by the legislature and they spend more time bitching about the roads than kids. Don't expect any changes any time soon.

US child abuse deaths near 800 for six-year span as CPS fails to protect

http://www.csmonitor.com/The-Culture/Family/2014/1218/AP-US-child-abuse-deaths-near-800-for-six-year-span-as-CPS-fails-to-protect

abused kids need to setup their own "social welfare" PAC so they can buy enough politicians to protect the kids.
