Now, I'm not suggesting he win it, but I think what he's done in LA is amazing and a huge evolution for him personally. He went from a barely competent NBA coach in the classic "motivator" mold to a more intellectual style of basketball that is being fully demonstrated tonight. Yes, the Lakers will have a 9-19 record after tonight. But we have to remember that Nick Young was injured for nearly half the year, which killed the bench. Now that he's returned, the Lakers have gone 8-10 playing a super grueling schedule.

Also worth mentioning, perhaps the most important thing worth mentioning, is that Scott was figuratively being held at gunpoint by Kobe Bryant, who forced Scott to play him 35-40 minutes and into running an isolation offense centered on him, just so he could pursue individual numbers. I can't imagine anything worse for a coach. The fact Scott has the team at 9-19 is an astonishing accomplishment.

Scott's coaching job has been criminally underrated this season.

:lmao no

The Lakers won one game without Kobe, let's stop acting like they're gonna make noise in the wild West.

It's not about making noise, it's about exceeding expectations. Knowledgeable posters like Harlem predicted the Lakers to be one of the worst teams in NBA history this year. So did the Media. If Scott can wring 35 wins out of this team, that's a big accomplishment. Although I do think they are a 35 win team without Kobe, but since he's one of the worst starters in the league, it's a tough obstacle for Scott to overcome.

Care to provide a counter-argument?

If he had the cajones to bring Kobe off the bench, he would get my vote.
