Tomorrow's game will be his 1000th NBA career game.

All with our Spurs, obviously. Another amazing milestone for an amazing player!

I still remember hearing some idiot on sports radio proclaim after our second Championship that Manu would only last a few years in the league due to his style of play. As of now, that I haven't heard from that idiot on the airwaves to this day while Manu is still balling, with missed free throws and stupid unforced turnovers sprinkled in but still a high-level player.

In the past, there were times when he'd kill us by recklessly driving to the basket, despite there being no open lanes and with the shot clock in our favor, to initiate contact and force a foul. When that led to a no-call, there'd be an easy fastbreak the other way since he'd be on the floor wondering why he didn't get a call. He doesn't do that as much as he used to. Maybe he's gotten smarter about that or it's taken such a toll on his body that he's forced himself to be more judicious about it.

I love Manu as much as anybody but Maradona, Messi, and their fans would HIGHLY disagree with that.

Maradona maybe. Even Fangio too.

But Messi? The guy has no WC titles (not even a shit Copa America), zero goals in WC playoffs and has gone scoreless in his absolute prime. NAH !

I don't care about his club record. It's not worth shit when we're talking about legends. What Manu did in 2004 > than anything Messi has done in his life.

Yeah, he won a WC in '86 and went to the Final in '90. He won the WC sub-18 tournament in '79 and won multiple times in league play for Argentina, Spain, and Italy. He's clearly the greatest Argentine athlete of all-time. People can call Messi a choker but he's won the WC equivalent of the MVP award twice to go with his multiple scoring titles and league titles. Manu can stand side by side with these guys, but he isn't a better athlete than both of them, especially Diego. There's a reason those two guys are considered amongst the greatest soccer players of all-time. Manu is a living legend and sure-fire HOF but he won't be considered amongst the greatest in his sport. But I don't want to slight him as he's my favorite athlete of all-time!
