I remember it well, yelled my ass off upstairs when he hit that shot while everyone else was downstairs eating at the table. Great shot.

Oh yeah, we were not contenders that year or a few years afterwards by any means! Some thought so or tried to act like it but from 09-011 or so the Spurs were not contenders AT ALL, they were a second round exit at best in those years. I remember the 011 season to date, that year I thought it was all over and good run and Tim looked spent, thought any run we would ever have was over and then some.
Oh the dark years :lol

We were still fans and duped then though and thought possibly we were contenders :lol. Those were dark years for us, but still 50 plus win years which most teams would call a success! We are spoiled.

Yep, Manu got hurt and it was not a good run to be honest. Dallas was the one to knock us off in 5 I remember clearly. That was one of the worst playoff Spurs teams to date IMO, Tim was still near his prime but the others sides Tony (Who was great that year btw) were old as hell or just not very good at all anymore. I still can't believe that lineup trotted out for a playoff series and they were the faves in that series going in :lol. I remember the last day of that year Dallas came back to beat the Rockets to match up with the Spurs and the Spurs won in OT to stay at #3 I believe it was, the 3 vs 6 going in.

:lol off the bench: Ime Udoka, Jacque Vaughn, Anthony Tolliver, Fabricio Oberto

The Spurs were basically forced to play the Daye/Errors types at the time. :lol

He was kind of like Danny, shooting wise.

Both are without the handle.

But Danny has D.

Mason just started out the season hot. Once teams respected his shot, he became useless. i think Green's offense was more dimensional than RMJ.

ha ha ha!!!!!!!!! i loved that shit!! i was stationed in PHx during the 03 and 05 years!! it was assume. i always knew the spurs closed a championship window for a lot of franchises during their beginning of dominance. Jazzz....Garnett and Tpups...Nuggetsss..Supersonics..But i absolutely loved fucking the Suns up. i lived there for a time (nice place to live) but OMG they actually believe they where better than our spurs. I mean i could understand to make an argument that they could be better but they had nothing!! Nothing!!! There is nothing like being in the enemy's home when your team is playing and i was there when Barry brought us back in the 4th quarter against those bastards!!! love your Spurs man, aint gonna be a group like them again for a long time. purely awesome!!!

Oh the dark years :lol

True. :lol Our dark years lasted from 2009 to maybe 2011 (and even then we won a playoff series in 2010 and had a great regular season record in the last year). RC and Pop rebuilt us from the mid-2000s multi-championship team to our present group mighty fast!

Tiago arrived.
Kawhi was acquired.
Boris arrived and rejuvenated his play.
Patty arrived and blossomed.
Timmy turned back the clock.
Tony peaked.
Manu ended a few seasons (relatively) uninjured!
Pop evolved the offense to fit his new team and new rules.

Not to mention....

Michael Finley demanded more time and was let go.
DeJuan Blair sulked on the bench and was not resigned.
He Who Shall Not Be Named was traded away.

Agreed. And Danny, while never known for his handles, has developed a passable driving game in these past 2 years. So, even has Bonner. Clearly the Spurs sharpshooters have been taught what to do when driven off the line and taken the time to work on that aspect of their game. Roger never seemed to develop that, and it killed him once teams focused on him.

Yes. I remember in the WCF and Finals last year, Danny surprised me with his drives after faking a 3.

Last regular season Danny was blowing point blank layups everywhere but this season so far, Danny has been able to convert almost all his layups. :toast
