There's obvious exclusions from that. Every team in that division has a great D and solid run game.. this puts the Rams right there with it. The receivers in this draft are pretty deep... no need to reach. Gurley is a great running back.

No, not really. The "workhorse RB" is a relic from a bygone era of the league, and running backs' age of decline is 27 years old. Just not a good value in the first round. Plus Gurley has a history of knee injuries.

Running backs are becoming underrated in general.
When Carolina lost DeAngelo, Stewart and Tolbert this year, our team got exponentially worse. Scrubs can't just hold down the running back position. Most teams that have a good running game have high-end running backs that were drafted early. I don't think this is a bad move for SD... it probably helps pro-long Rivers career too. But they really need to find a good offensive lineman in the draft. I don't know how many there will be in round two. Fortunately/unfortunately for them, they have multiple needs at that position, so they should be able to find at least one plug :lol

I can hear the moving vans to LA being loaded up as we speak as a result of this typical Chargers fuck-up. Can't wait to see another year where McCoy/Reich get a pass for running it up the middle for no gain on first, second and third down because everyone blames the O-line!

My point is that a good run-blocking O-line is more important than any individual running back to the success of a running game. Or are we going to pretend that Blount, Vereen, and Ridley are superstars? Get an offensive line who can actually block and all you need is a few role players. Woodhead, Brown, and Oliver would be fine with a better O-line.

Not sure how to feel about Cards selecting Humphries. He's a solid get, with arguably elite upside as he gets bigger and stronger. And with no Gordon, it makes some sense. Additionally, prior to Kiem, the Cardinals had the worst talent on the OL I the league.
But OL wasn't really an area of need. That said, I think I'm good with it.

Really hope Randy Gregory becomes the Raiders pick here. iirc they were the first team to meet with him after his drug test, and there were reports that they really liked him at the combine... especially in interview sessions. fills a massive need at pass-rusher. The Bucs might have a need after cutting michael johnson, but i don't know if they're going to want to take 2 "character concern" players after going with Jameis #1 overall. doubt tennessee goes for an edge rusher after giving big money to orakpo and morgan. i like owa odighizuwa and preston smith too, but Gregory is on another tier

I figured they would've went defense there, but what do I know? I could understand not reaching for an offensive lineman in the first round, you can get quality OL's on day two. But to have not addressed their defense was puzzling. And as spurraider21 and yourself have already noted, they have many aerial weapons already, more notably Hilton in regards to a comparable.

I just don't get the feeling that we'll select him if he's there. Especially with the acquisition of Graham. I hoped this entire time we'd be in a position to draft him, then lost hope after the graham trade. But felt better because of the trade because it filled a need. I think they'll wait until the 3rd round to select a WR because of Graham. I would hope we'd select him if he fell that far (late 2nd), a part of me doesn't believe he'll be there when we're up in the late 2nd. I think we'll go OL first. If he happens to drop to the 3rd for some strange reason there's no way he gets past us. But that isn't happening :lol

The heart and soul of the Miss. St. defense last year. 2 years ago he was just a mediocre pass-rusher....but this last year he really came on strong. I think he had about 10 sacks....forced a ton of fumbles. Guy never took a play off. Can't be blocked. Great leader....I can't say enough good things about the guy.

Well they went LB instead. McKinney is solid. Since Cushing fell off they haven't had a head crusher against the run. No one will be able to run on that defense with McKinney, Watt and Wilfork waiting for the ball carrier.

I like McKinney....he's another reason the Miss. St. Defense was so tough last year. Can really stuff the run...and can occasionally get all the way to the QB. He really started off the year solid....but he started to piss me off at the end of the year. He was taking plays off...and would disappear for quarters at a time.
But, I don't like him going to the Texans. Not because he won't fit in....because I thought you guys had bigger needs. Thought since the Texans went CB in the first round...they would go WR with this pick.
Still though...that Texans D (on paper right now) is looking sick.

I thought Perryman was gonna go in the top 10 of the second round, versatile, athletic, composed, played at a good college and has experience against some good teams. Not sure I love the Cardinals draft. It's all right. Passing on Gregory could come back to bite them. Glad they took a big RB, but he reminds me of Beanie Wells, as he has no break away speed, and a limited burst typically sees momentum take him down shortly after contact.
All three guys are feisty, though, so hopefully the attitude helps some.
