No but he's been the one putting with shit lol. Teammates getting hurt, Pop's whipping boy, and actually hits three's, etc

Depending on how this season goes, perhaps his relationship with the Spurs may deteriorate to the point that he goes somewhere else. Being the whipping boy on a winning team is one thing. Being one on a sinking ship is another.

I just don't understand why Pop is so hard on him defensively. I know he sees Green's potential and wants to push him to fulfill it, but the whole "take him out every time he lets a guy open for 3" is ridiculous, and happens way too often. It's especially annoying when he ends up sitting him out for the rest of the quarter/half, seemingly as punishment or something.

Ya, I really hope he didn't send him to the back last night for that reason(and potentially talking back, I guess), because that would be pretty ridiculous..
Especially considering how many shitty defenders are currently playing for the Spurs and constantly missing rotations:lol(almost everybody on the team)..

Reminds me of Bowen in 2008 and 2009 when Pop essentially gave up on him and constantly benched him in favor of BeliFinley..

I think I heard the ESPN people say he tweaked his ankle or something, but who knows. Regardless, we've all seen him pull Green countless times this season at the drop of a hat. 2 minutes into the game, Green loses his man or doesn't close out hard, and Pop pulls him immediately.
He better not do this shit in the playoffs.

If Green gets a contract offer from another team for $10 million a year, he should go ahead and sign. $6 Mil at tops from Spurs.

He isn't getting a max, but as some others have been stating, he is going to be earning somewhere between 5.5-10 million per year.

Some team is going to offer $10 million per year for verde.

With the cap going up a lot and smoothing unlikely, teams be looking to lock in players this offseason before the cap goes up by $25-$30 million. We're lucky too that the Kawhi max will be locked in under the current cap. I have a feeling Green is going to come in at $8-$9 per season - definitely in excess of the MLE. That will limit the number of teams who can go sign him. Even if we have Kawhi at ~$17mm and Green at ~$10mm, there would still be at least $60mm of additional money to go around under the cap.
Given that, only reasons Spurs shouldn't make sure to lock him up are:
- Wes Matthews can be had, with confidence he'll be 80-90% of the player he was pre-torn Achilles
- Ownership doesn't want to spend that much in the post-Duncan era
- Need maximum cap flexibility this offseason to grab a top flight talent, which only happens if Duncan retires
- Serious decline in his game expected; he'll still probably be very decent at the tail end of a four year deal
If going over the cap, I'd frontload contracts similar to Tiago, with the understanding you can't do that with Kawhi's max.

9 mil a year for four years is what I would give him. Well worth it tbh
Kawhi is priority #1 but bringing LDN back better be 1b. I'm going to be pissed if he's not in a Spurs uni next year tbh.

Especially when you lock up tony parker for three years on an inflated contract.

Gotcha.
I think with the cap/tax set to skyrocket in a year, he'll be back, even if it means they go into tax territory for a year.
This may actually be a thing if Tim/Manu retire. How much do the Spurs pay this guy in the reload/rebuild world?
Someone is going to throw over 10m at the guy. do Spurs match?

Danny's earned a huge pay increase, but it's hard to imagine a team offering a max deal. Deals of around 10m per year are certainly in play. Spurs should come out of the gate with a five year offer, to hopefully match the five year deal that Kawhi will get.

he isn't a restricted FA the Spurs matching an offer wouldn't matter. If he gets a big offer and decides to sign the Spurs won't get a shot to match.

Sure, I didn't mean match in the RfA sense, but more so at what point will an offer be too rich for the Spurs.
Green has more than deserved a nice pay raise, but wonder if 11-12m a year in a post Duncan/Manu world is a bit much if the team is looking at a rebuild/reload situation in the next two years. May not be, especially with the cap bump to come, but then again the team would be committing large amounts of money to a Parker, green, Leonard trio.

Utah will take a long & serious look at Verde if they think they can challenge for playoff spot next season, he will be a great fit (3 pt shooting & perimeter defense) for that young team that needs some veteran leadership & championship/playoff experience.

How about the other half of wing stop huh? If people don't think Leonard is worth the max then thus guy sure isn't. He hasn't even showed up once this series.

Don't think Green ever deserved the max. But his stock is probably dropping as this series progresses.

Green's stock is the same as it's always been, tbh..you guys think other GMs didn't realize he can't create his own shot until they watched this series?:lol..he'll probably get around what Ariza got IMO, 8 mil a year, maybe 9 prior to the upcoming cap increase..
He would be an idiot to re-sign with the Spurs, though..they don't have a single guard that can create shots(especially with Manu's probable retirement), which is fatal for a role player..

If Danny's loyal, he re-sign with the Spurs. If he's smart, he'll join his buddy LBJ in Cleveland and replace Jr Smith.

I also find it funny that people get so upset that Danny Green, who spent his first 2 years bouncing around teams and in the D-League, isn't playing like a world class basketball player :lol

Who cares, a guy who shots something like 2-40 during a whole series aint worth a penny.

No, what's strange is people being angry about a player that shot a historic 48% from 3 on 5 attempts per game in the past 2 playoff runs finally having a bad shooting series:lol..

I'd say keeping Belinelli is a higher priority than Green. Belli had a good night tonight, but he's nowhere near as versatile as Green, who can contribute even when his shot isn't falling. There's a reason CP3 didn't score until the 3rd, for example.

Having watched a lot of Nemanja Dangubic's Cvrena Cvezda games this year I would love to see him as a low cost alternative to Green. He's really something except the shooting which isn't a lost cause. No joke, I really line his game as a role playing wing. Defense, on ball, off ball, full court, help, blocks, transition, athletic plays ... He's a lot like Green was coming from Cleveland but with soaring athleticism and finishing.
