Cam getting healthy was the key offensively. Allowed him to run more which opened up the running lanes and passing attack. Cards have a good defense, but I think Cam will do enough to win.

Glad Niners won the last one with him, I would've been super pissed if Niners blew this one. Not sure what happened to Harbaugh and Niners FO, I get the feeling he burns people out. Maybe he'll get better at that in time. I wonder how long he'll stay in Michigan before returning to the pros, but wish him the best.

Michigan overpaid and the stress to perform there is a lot less than the 49ers or another NFL team. Plus the oversight of the program will most likely fall on to him more so than it did at San Fran. It's probably easier on him to do that oversight job then be babysat by a GM he doesn't like. His move pushing krapadick into the starting position though was probably the start of all of this.

It's his alma mater, and his uber-intense schtick works better in college than the pros. If he brings Michigan back to relevance, he'll be worshipped like a fucking god.

good point. Have you read anything about there being a divide over Kap between Harbaugh and FO? I figure they must've supported the decision if they let Smith go. I still think they should've let Smith finish up the last season.

He's fucking used to it. He was successful at Stanford which was dogshit before his arrival. He's helped recruit for his dad's school at Western Kentucky.

San Francisco (wild card) -- With a young quarterback, the 49ers' window is still wide open. They can be good for a long time. But another failed playoff run may put some doubts in people's minds. Harbaugh's act may start to wear thin if the team keeps losing composure at key times. He looks like a genius right now, but he can go the Rex route in a hurry. They have tons of draft picks (too many, actually for a team that drafts well), which puts them in good shape for the future. But after next season, Kaepernick is may be able to command a salary higher than Flacco's. If the 9ers give it to him, it will be a lot harder to keep their team together.


To be honestly, I hate that being "fiery" is seen as a good thing, or even a neutral thing. It's one thing to have your players' backs or to motivate the team; it's quite another to act like a baby on the sidelines and get into altercations with other coaches. He might be a good strategist, but so is Rex Ryan. A coach acting like a fool all the time eventually leads to players to lose respect for him. Harbaugh's had great success so far and is pushing all the right buttons, but so was Ryan two years into his tenure. It can fall apart quickly. Stacked rosters can show major weaknesses in the span of a few weeks.

I think the 49ers will progressively get worse over the next two years (it's kind of hard not to). I think they could easily miss the playoffs in 2014-2015, not even counting a major injury.

Harbaugh is a loyal guy. Until the final few weeks he didn't call out Kaepernick in the media and he obviously never canned OC Roman

Ultimately he is fall guy for how the offense unraveled because he didn't make any changes with guys mentioned above.

There were disagreements with the locker rooms I'm sure you heard. And other minor stuff like that.


Will 49ers be worse off? I don't see any superior coaches avaliable. I think 49er fan assumes a change on offense OC will bring drastic improvement.

IMO a more consistent QB with less upside and natural skills would have gotten this team into the playoffs.

Come to mind. I honestly just want Kaepernick gone. I dislike him as a human and thus it makes cheering for my football team difficult. Never this season did I truly feel happy. Like a teammate rival of yours succeeding. It was a half glass empty feeling. The only TDs I truly celebrated were those not involving Kaepernick throws.

The new coaching staff will have a much shorter leash on Kaepernick. IMO he's gonna get benched sometime next season and 49ers will once again need help (other teams winning/losing) to make playoffs. 7-10 wins. Another Seahawks division title

Harbaugh does seem to have a Larry Brown-type of issue where his players can tolerate him when they're winning, but it blows up when they're losing..definitely lacks maturity and is polarizing..

I disagree about Rex Ryan, though, I think he's a very solid coach that achieved impressive records with some of the worst QBs in the NFL..his players seem to like him, too, unlike Harbaugh..he suffered from the typical New York media machine hype machine, both positively and negatively..

I am not sure the stress will be less at Michigan. There is a good chance it could potentially be more stressful. I live in Michigan. I am a Spartan fan but all the Michigan fans here think he is the second coming. That all they needed was him to show up on campus and they are relevant again in the national title talks. My main concern with those two is you better take really good care of the offensive coordinator spot, I don't want some moron stunting Carr's development.
