Well good for you.

I think you understand the silliness of watching for a handshake and not a sideline.
You choose what to look for and post.I personally have no problem with Sumlin, but you nit picking on a handshake...
Glass houses...

Would it not be hypocritical for a coach whose big recruiting push is about character to not shake a coaches hand after a game?

You're comparing apples to oranges. Ours was an unpaid student assistant. Yours would be the head coach. A different level. Once again, he was punished immediately. So I don't get the concern. And it turns out (I'm trusting the link, I didn't check) Strong did shake hands.

Wow.

You took the time to investigate all that? You read others posts watched closely for a hand shake. Surely you have some time for a blow to the back of the head no matter what level of official sideline personel it came from?

So, who was this kid and what background check did he go through. Who actually ok'd the sideline pass? Did Sumlin even know the .... What was he with that clipboard? Now you can really investigate Eagle-eyed style. You really got something here.

There is also the Coaches horns down sign with Strong. Is it really a nervous twitch. How long has he had this twitch? Surely there are other pictures of him with his hands performing the same odd hand signal.

Go now my son, investigate closely and thoroughly, there are many big stories.

Arkansas = 2-22 in conference play the last three years; steamrolls Texas and holds them to 50 yards of offense. :lol

You are correct, we had no business on the field with that team.

Yet AGgIe ducked us?
What does that say about your willingness to compete?

You got saved the embarrassment of losing to THAT team. That makes AGgIe, chicken shit.

This thread basically becomes how bad are we contest which is kinda amusing.
AGgIe nosedived and we stayed bad all year.

Keep repeating it all you want if it makes you feel better. Where's the proof? I saw the worst team in the SEC West stomp Texas last night, the whole nation did. Where's the proof A&M refused to play? Sounds like a farce to me

A matter of fact, if Texas wanted to re-start up the regular season series right now I am sure we would happily listen to the offer, like we've always said.

Johnny Patrick. Look it up. Assault on a female. Stayed on the team and played for strong. And surprise surprise, he was a good player. Wonder why he wasn't kicked off.

He pleaded guity to harassment and has been a model citizen ever since. That's a life saved by Charlie Strong. :lol

Besides, you had to go back almost 5 years to find that? I can give you a laundry list of stuff on Sumlin just from his A&M days.

I can't say I've ever seen that type of repeated thuggish behavior from a coach on the sidelines - ever. I don't give the immature punk any slack because he had a neck injury two years ago. Being "just" a student assistant coach does not matter either. To me, the guy still represents the university. That kid should have known proper conduct on the sidelines by now - he's been with the program for at least 2-3 years.

Sumlin doesn't deserve much credit for keeping that coach off the sidelines in the second half. He had no choice - that crap being pulled was beyond the pale and on tape for the whole world to see. Every school in the country would use that incident against Sumlin if that coach stayed on the sidelines in the second half. He will still get ripped for having staff AND players lacking poise and behaving in an out of control manner.

FWIW, I don't recall seeing a kicker punched in the nuts like the WVU kicker was yesterday. Then there's targeting penalties and borderline targeting penalties yesterday.

A&M won that game yesterday, but the program was put in a bad light with some of the thuggish behavior as well.

I totally agree. They will have to resort to negative recruiting because this win didn't do anything for them.

Yeah, I saw your weak sauce.

What's the deal with some of the ags/C Turds on this site? They always feel they have to get in the last word regarding UT/a&m even when they aren't really that great themselves.

UT is in the outhouse right now, but that will change. We know that and they know that.

What has A&M done on their own lately? A single ten win season in the last ten years, I suppose (it might be more than one, if i'm wrong sorry about that).

Texas has five of those type seasons in the last decade plus a NC and a NC game appearance even with the Mack Brown four year victory lap of unmotivated leadership.

I know A&M has wanted to play Texas out-of-conference for a while. Texas had 'scheduling problems' until 2019 or so and refused to play us. That's a fact.

And as I said well before his latest debacle, no one who's seen Swoopes play would try to duck that team (come on, you know it too). Your defense is better than ours (everyone's is right now), but we'd still manage enough points to beat your 'offense' - especially when you add in picks, etc. from Swoopes.

Texas should agree to renew the rivalry game out-of-conference. Y'all would actually have more to gain from it right now than we would.

"has wanted" means they still want to -- that's not a fact. "had wanted" would be more accurate.

Swoopes has been good against terrible defenses. See Iowa State, West Virgina, Oklahoma State games. We would have matched up much better against Aggy, sadly.

:lol I'll give you the student assistant. The kid was an idiot and doesn't deserve to be apart of the program anymore. I agree that he put the University and team in a bad light. Should Sumlin have seen that coming? Impossible to say.

The other stuff you are bringing up is laughable and you are reaching really hard. There were some questionable targeting penalties and that hit in the nuts was not intentional. Playing hard and physical doesn't put anyone in a bad light.

These kids do need to be coached up better so they are not committing such penalties though and are committing legal hits; hence the ongoing Defensive Coordinator search.

Actually it says fired.
Which implies he was being paid and did not just happen to show up on the sideline.

Good for Sumlin for axing this clown who should never have been on the sideline. I like how poor Michael said he got lost in the heat of the moment... two separate moments. Yes that excuse will cover it. Anger management supplied by Sumlin next I guess so he can one day become a productive member of society. Maybe Kevin Garnett will take him in.

No. He was dismissed. A&M release:

Quote:Statement from Texas A&M Head Football Coach Kevin Sumlin:

"Upon returning to College Station last night, I had the opportunity to gather information and watch clips of one of our student assistant coaches initiating physical contact on two separate occasions with a West Virginia player. I am extremely disappointed and embarrassed, as his behavior reflected poorly on our program.

"On behalf of the Texas A&M football program, I want to apologize to Darryl Worley and to Andrew Buie as well as to Coach Holgorsen and the West Virginia family for the inexcusable actions of the student assistant. I removed him from the sideline at halftime of yesterday's game after being informed of the incidents and, after further review, have permanently dismissed him from our football program.

"I also want to apologize to the Aggie faithful, as they deserve a program to be proud of, not only in our play, but in the integrity and respect we show on and off the field. This student assistant coach's actions are not representative of our program."

Sumlin did the right thing with the SAC. Still, there was no other suitable option for Sumlin outside of termination for a low level coach like that.

There is no way you can say with certainty that the nut punch was not intentional. You don't know that. Can you read minds? I've don't recall seeing that kind of play before in all the years I've watched football - on a kicker at least.

The defensive players approached or crossed the line on some of those hits by going high to the head. It was not good, smart football IMO - as you said before, this is part of the reason why Sumlin is culling his defensive staff. They have to play better and with more poise.

It was some 20 year old student assistant who was sent home at halftime. Idiot move by the kid and he doesn't deserve to be on the sidelines anymore but it was just a kid who made a mistake. Not some coach on salary or something.
