The Sterns got NVE and Finley?

Who cares...we got Aaron McKie!

Seriously, the Sterns backup team of NVE, Barry, Finley, Horry and Nestrovic could probably beat our starting five.

Im sorry, I know I missed something. Who are the Sterns? Are they calling the Spurs the Sterns? Why?

Laker Lanny is a poster that used to post here sometimes. He thinks that David Stern, refs, etc are on the Spurs side, so he calls the Spurs, the "Sterns".

It's a silly story about a method of coping by a Laker fan who came up with that nickname after the Spurs defeated the Lakers in the playoffs.

He also referred to Detroit as the "Pisterns" :lol

LOL!!

"The Spurs are so strong that they are going to dominate us big time. Players are willing to give up a little money to win championship.

Three years ago, we had a team that attracted these players. However, today, we have only Kobe. good job. Kupchak."

I can't read any more...I feel like a bunch of girlie men are chatting.

It's hard to disagree with his conclusion though. Our bench could definitely beat the Lakers' starters.

If we were the "Sterns", then why did he give us the shaft after 0.4? We clearly got cheated yet he did not step up. Stern is a pussy and no way in hell he's pulling for us.

Pop is such a liar. I hear he says he thinks Finley will go to the Suns. LOL - yeah right just setting a smokescreen.

Great move by the Spurs - and i much rather him go there than Phoenix or Miami. They are already the best team and would probably win it all next season anyway.

But if he went to Miami (SF) or Pho (SG) he would seriously make an impact on those teams and they have greater talent than SA. I rather SA be the it team for the 2-3 years until the Lakers start rolling again.

The impact on the Spurs is the least of the three imo.
Exactly what I was thinking.

I would rather he help the Spurs since they are going to smoke us anyway.

I don't want the teams we have a chance to beat to get better and I especially don't want the Heat to improve either. http://spurstalk.com/forums/images/smilies/smilol.gif Glad to see Laker fans are accepting reality

How can you hate on the Spurs?

They are one of the few class acts in the NBA. Pop and Duncan are the (bleep). Look at what Pop has done in a small market and how players actually enjoy playing with Duncan.

Lakers are and always will come first with me. But as an NBA fan, I respect the Spurs organization, coach and players.

I hate manu and his floppy hair-do...

I hate Parker and his choking jumpshot...

I hate Duncan and his squeaky clean imagine...

I hate Nazr and his I'm only starting because I play next to Tim Duncan game.

I hate Bowen and his karate kick defense...(yeah, he's a real class act)

I would rather have the Heat win a ring than the Spurs, when I really consider it.

After a few years, i'm going to look back and remember Shaq as the guy who won an MVP, 3 finals MVPs, led the league in scoring, and was chiefly responsible for bringing 3 rings as a Los Angeles Laker.

I'll always look at Tim Duncan as the guy who took the Lakers' 4th championship away from them. I'm NEVER going to like Tim Duncan or the Spurs.

I don't like the Heat or Shaq right now, but I know that in the future i'm going to look back and realize what an important part of three rings Shaq was, and what an important part of denying him and the Lakers a 4th Duncan was.

I don't want Mitch calling the Sterns for Barry.

By the time Pop and Buford got done with him, #8 would be in San Antonio and the Staples Center would be painted in Sterns colors.

Mitch isn't smart enough to talk to that team yet.

Work with me on this guys. What is our number-one need? Low box scoring. And who better to provide that then the NBA's all-time leading scorer. Sure, at age 58, the big fella doesn't run the floor like he once did. And he'll need plenty of weak-side help on defense. But if, as a player-coach, he can man the post for 20-25 mpg, I like our chances to challenge the Spurs.

Imagine this "speed" lineup on the floor in the 4th of close games:

Smush
Kob
Odom
Kwame
Kareem

I remember after Magic left and all we had was Worthy...those were dark times....94,95....
It's ok now, we have Phil, Kobe, Lamar and Kwame....still have a lot of work to do....but not nearly as bad as the mid 90's.
