For the current setup we're convinced we're getting the best price performance. Anything cheaper (without compromise) would require us getting server space in a high grade datacentre for free or at an even greater discount we already have.

There has been many people on this board saying they can do it (or help) - nobody so far has delivered, so I'm not holdoing my breath.

No problem, just send me a PM. BTW, I've been keeping an eye on HHVM since we had our last conversation about this and it has evolved quite a bit. There's still some memory issues with it, but it might be interesting to try it with full blown vBulletin at some point (Wordpress, for example, is fully supported at this time). They even have a FastCGI interface so it can be run from Apache or nginx, with possible fallback to the interpreter. Might be worth looking into at some point in the future.
